Question on exhaust manifold with or without 02 sensor

Hey guys,

New to the forum, I just picked up a 1992 Toyota Corolla sedan to use as a commuter/beater cause my Chevy 2500HD and FJ are bleeding me dry for gas money commuting to work.

Gotta say, this little thing is pretty sweet, gets up and goes and runs good for having 165,000 on it.

Anyways, my exhaust manifold is cracked down the middle and the muffler was ready to fall off. I am on ebay ready to order a new mani but wanted to ask a question first.

My current setup has the 02 sensor mounted into the down pipe below the manifold. So I am guessing that I need the replacement manifold with out the 02 sensor hole? And hopefully it will just bolt up the the down pipe.

And any cheap place to get a direct fit muffler or will I have to get the welder out?

Great forum guys, I will start using the FJ section as well.

Keep same arrangement when you order the new manifold. Oxy sensor should mount in the exhaust pipe below the manifold just like the original. Assume you are talking about the muffler in rear and not the braided flex pipe or cat converter up front. Not sure about cheap but napa/ advance/ auto zone should have what you need. Napa muffler isn't bad and at least used to be a lifetime warranty. It will be a mufler and a separate pipe, not a welded pipe/muffler unit like the original.

if the only differernce is the 02 location then buy whichever is cheaper. If you have the tools/ability you can easily create a block off plate and just bolt it on.

I bought a cheap manifold on ebay before and it already had the block off plate in place. Just leave it and install like normal. I think it was Dorman brand, but don't really remember.
