What to do with my AE92.....

Well... as the title states....

Earlier this month I had both the 87 s/c MR2 and the AE92 up for sale in anticipation of getting a (boring) DD 98 Camry this coming weekend.

Couple weekends ago the MR2 made the decision for me and spun a bearing -- why fix a car I'm trying to sell?

Well... that leaves my wife & I with her '10 corolla, the (soon to have) 98 Camry, the 86 F150 (only for towing), the 86 MR2 w/ 5s swap, and the AE92.... the 86 MR2 will probably be used at auto-x's or just to have for fun (it's now 10x more reliable and also faster than a stock supercharged MR2.... and cost a fraction).

Anyways.... so that leaves the goofy AE92.... which now has an 11.3:1 7age, AE102 C52 trans... and the weird unfinished front end.

The 7age will be getting the 87 MR2's old MS1 v2.2..... but in deciding how and where to mount it I've come across the thought of 'what do I want to do with this car' and the answer.... I'm not sure....

I've thought about anything possible on mine... burning it, dismantling it, crushing it.. so far its avoided it... Hate and love? maybe... I'm seriously considering the silvertop swap on it and making it a daily driver for few years, then I'm selling it and moving on. As soon as I get a well paying job and a new car, the corolla is gone.

Lol, Yea +1

Sorry but I wouldn't be sure what to do either.

Not to knock the camry too much, I'd like to have a Camry All-Trac and put in a 3SGTE Celica drivetrain.

getting rid of it in it's current state isn't going to happen.... I would probably have to complete the front end or swap back to stock in order to generate interest.

auto-x..... with the 7age in it.... it's SMF.... so it has a slightly better index than the 86 MR2, SSM.... (as it has a 5sfe swapped in..... don't knock it 'til you drive one.... It'll walk from stock stupercharged and most 20V cars... seriously).... but I'm not sure which I'd rather auto-x..... It's something I have considered.

rally-x is out of the question.... I'm not going to destroy the car and the suspension isn't setup for it (KYB's, ST springs, tein upper mounts, etc) and most likely the exhaust would break at some point.

I drive to work at 5:30am..... usually tired, 30 miles each way with mostly nothing between the 2 towns/cities.... a 98 Camry that's been excellently maintained is a perfect car for this.... I KNOW it will get me to work every day.... there isn't anything in the back of my mind saying "oh... is today the day that we're gonna spin a bearing, throw a rod, have XYZ fail and I'm gonna be stuck with MILES to walk anywhere?" (on my way there & back I have: thrown a rod in the ae92, spun a bearing in the 86 mr2, had the back window shatter in the 87 t-top MR2, had starters fail, had the AE92 not want to start before I leave the house.... and more). The Camry will be boring and reliable.... kinda like my job and what I need to be for it. That's why we have the AE92 and the 'SW11'.

And to boot.... we're getting the 98 Camry for basically $250 and about 6 hours of my time.... it has 180K miles but has been regularly maintained by Toyota dealerships (including 2 complete timing belt jobs... and the front tires were just replaced). Car was owned by someone who has never driven a car over 80mph..... it's boring, reliable... and in the event that it's in an accident... I won't be overly disappointed like if someone were to hit the AE92 or the SW11.
