most amazing axle removal tool ever...

so after wrestling with my axles on the corolla last night for the 3rd time since I've owned it and failing yet again... I went out and got an "inner cv joint puller" adapter for my slide hammer:

It was $40 at napa and worth every penny. I came home and had both axles out in less than 5 minutes. 1 hammer on each axle and they were out.

link on napa:

Just through I should spread the word

Can this thing work for both sides? Because I always have problems on the driver side axle. The passenger side, it's like that shit is ready to come out or go it whenever. When I had to remove the driver side, I really couldn't fit any screw driver or pry bars with sufficient leverage...

Do you have trouble installing them? Installing is usually really easy, I just push it in from the end and make sure the "tri-roller" is seated back in the tulip and then tap on the very end with a mallet. Worked everytime I did it.

And that tool looks like it would save alot of headaches. I'ma definitely get or make one.

yeah, I used it on both sides. the driver side is a bit of a pain because there is a shield there bolted on the trans, but you can squeeze it in there.

the passenger side sucks because the whole slide hammer is in the car, I guess that's why the make the extension :P

I've never had an issue getting them back in, I just like up the gears and them tap them in with a hammer. you can even use a screw driver/pry bar on a lip of the inner tulip and hammer the end of that.
