so im going to put a sound sytem in the car today, i just cant roll without it, its just to damn boring without good music..
wondering if theres any ways to make this car unstealable, i have already got a steering wheel lock, it will be on at nighttime, but day time i will probably forget to put it on and plus ill be to embarrassed to put it on in day time and not to mention to put the thing on just for like half an hour while i go buy stuff or something is just a hassle..
alarms, even though there are alarms its still possible for the car to be driven away, i dont realy care as much is someone smashs my window, well i do but i rather not have the car driven away.. because if it is driven away then most likely your subs, amp will be stolen.. my damn key broke inside the ignition so this car very easy to steal..
If someone really wants your car, they'll find a way to get it. That being said, you can make it super hard for them almost to a point that if they really want it, the'll have to have a flatbed to take it away.
I'd put in a:
-Fuel Pump Kill switch
-Starter Kill switch
-Alarm also with starter kill
-Removable steering wheel (dunno if there's a kit for these cars, I have one on my muscle car)
Lol, that should make it pretty darn unattractive to thieves.
as the guys said. kill switch. my old car had an ignition kill switch ( no spark ) a fuel pump switch. if u add that with a good alarm. tinted windows and try to keep it low key in bad areas...

Having had my car broken into twice, both times my single 12" sub and amp stolen, the second time my head unit... I'm planning on welding up steel bars (like jail bars) in a neat, creative way and drill some holes to bolt it inside the trunk to make yanking the sub and amp out impossible unless you had a ratchet and socket.
And I'm planning on setting up a camera inside my car when the alarm goes off. I know an old buddy of mine, kinda, from elementary school BROKE INTO MY CAR THE FIRST TIME! And I have tracked him down but I never acted on it since I didn't really have a more solid proof than seeing him walk past my house that night @ 3am which was the time I pulled up at my housemm. Street justice prevails, IMO. If I ever find out who did it, I'll do my acts first then call the cops. Screw all those bastards.
Parking in certain spots help alot, i always park my car in areas that is very wide open and easily spoted by pedestrians so if theives try to break in people can see, and will have a better chance of not getting your stuff stolen.. never park in dark alleys, and spots where its hidden from view..
i think i will have to get a kill switch for fuel pump and ignition installed, this stuff might have to be left for the pros since i never done this stuff befor and have no clue what to do...
so i was thinking about a kill switch for the trunk release, that way theives try to pop the trunk with the trunk release and it wont pop!! and when the trunk dont open they cant take the subs/amp... not sure how easily the trunk key cylinder is to bust though, im geussing not that easy since the trunk key hole is not used alot? maybe a trunk key cylinder delete may help..
might invest in a alarm, hope there are some good ones for a few hundred.. i just got the system working now, wow took longer then i thought, i geuss because i got stuck half way threw, gotta finish up the rest tomorrow though all i have to do now is just put the interior back together, then make my stuff unstealable..
i think i might also get one of those pop off steering wheels if i can get for 100 bucks or under, then i dont have to use that stupid steering wheel lock... you guys think the ebay steering wheels are any good?

does anyone know which colored wire is for the ignition kill switch? im going to try to put one in today... is there a way to check with a digital multi meter to see which one is the ignition kill switch wire?
there's absolutely nothing you can do to keep it from being stolen....
reducing the risk of that happening will be:
Installing an alarm
Installing a kill switch (of sorts... best are ones that allow cranking but no start)
Watching where you park and where you drive
Leaving your car in a locked garage overnight/when not in use
also don't 'flaunt' your system in areas where you park commonly or when you're about to park.... otherwise you might as well put a giant "I'm an idiot and I want you to steal my stuff" sign on your car

yup its pretty much common sense... another thing is dont leave anything valuable in sight, take ipods/change with you inside when you sleep..
i think i am just going to install 2 ignition kill switchs since those seems pretty easy, 1 will be behind the glove box but not viewable when open, it will be epoxied behind it so only way you know its there is by feeling... the other one i was thinking maybe in the 5 speed shifter boot... what are the chances of them finding both??? maybe a professional can still steal it, or a flat bed can take it away but atleast i am keeping away the non profession theives/junkies... theres a very unlikely chance of getting my stuff stolen while im sleeping because i park the car in a locked garage ever since some ahole smashed my window for some change and ipod in my other car..

Reason: personal info delete
I've seen it time and again where tow trucks DO steal the cars... neighbors who don't know you well just assume it's being towed for repair or as a repo.....

so i picked up a few on-off switches but im not sure if the amps are high enough...
one is a 12v 15a and the other is 12v 16a... will these be good enough or do i need a higher amperage rating??
i think i will put one on the fuel pump and one on the key cylinder.. do i just disconnect one of the wires from the fuel pump and connect it to the on-off switch??
need a little help here i have never wired up a killswitch befor, i do have soldering skills and tools though so that will be no problem.. i am going to put the one near the fuel pump under the rear seat where it means the metal.. who check in there lol.. not sure if i am suposed to connect it straight to the fuel pump though which is right under the rear seats right??
i just want my car to be a bit less stealable, my key broke in the ignition so all you need to do is, break window, use house key to turn ignition on and you have got a nice little corolla in 15 seconds with a bunch off gadgets to rip apart and sell to get drugs...
edit- well i disconnected the wire going into the rear under seat but the car still started without it plugged in, i though it wouldnt start without the harness plugged in... weird

they way i do mine is finding the wire that feeds power or grounds the pump or ignition and cut it. place the switch there.... if u want to mount it in a specific location get wire of the same gauge and extend it to the desired location
wire from power,,,,,,,,,,extension wire,,,,,,extension wire,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,wire to unit
_______________(cut)---------------switch-----------------(end cut)_____________
hope that helps a bit
