Ok so im pretty sure my piston rings are going out. Im smoking grey-ish/blue when i rev up. Now instead of rebuilding the 4af Can I use the 4ag block on my f head with no major issues I know it will bolt on but as far as comp ratio and if the stock Carb will flow enough fuel??? I know I might have to use 91 Oct. Reason I'm not using the head too is cause well I'm broke and don't have the money for the manifolds or ignition systems.
Or would the 7a block be a better choice?
I have tried searching but I get a lot of g head on f block but not the other way.... any help would be great. Thanks.... gotta get this sucker sniffed and tagd

I was about to say, lol... I've been looking for as much info on the opposite as I can. I still need more help in that regard.
Well going by from I've been reading, you will also need the GE's oil pan since the block designs are slightly different for the oil pans. FE crank, rods, pistons should be a direct swap into the GE block (and vice versa). Obviously this means you need to use the FE flywheel. Both blocks have the same bore & stroke, and crank journals (48mm) so as long as you're using the FE internals, you shouldn't lose compression. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
You could maybe throw in a 7AFE metal head gasket to raise compression a little...
The only thing I don't know about... and this is a part where I'm trying to do some research now... is using the FE accessories & their brackets (AC, PS, alt) on a GE block. I've seen pics of the GE block, and I see mounting holes in the front where my FE block has the AC compressor bracket. Hmmmm.
I forgot the accessories where mounted different. But as far as the block I was planning on using the GE block and rotating assembly, GE full short block. My piston rings are going. So essentially I would be making a high compression 4af till I swap the GE head with corresponding manafold and electronics. Just need to know if its a safe c.r. with the stock Carb fuel rate. I would be using the 4a head gasket and stock 4af head for now

you cant use the block on the 4af head, hence the piston rise higher than the stock 4af does, which this will create the pistons pounding on your head on the valves.. i have never done this before, but i have read about this someone online... now if you want to run a nice 4ag then you can, use the block and the head on it, just get a MSD ign system a tercel dizzy and install it, run some carbs on the 4ag and run it like that... i used some 1999 yamaha r1 carburators on my ae86 sr5 4ag carb build... i didnt run the tercel dizzy, because i wanted a custom made one for me to abuse... but i have seen something like this in the past... there is a guy on club4ag.com screen nam is raccoonracing his name is james in real life, he is a pretty kool guy, he makes alot of goodies for his cars.. he build some motor cycle carbs for his 4ac ae86... let me find his video on youtube of his car... http://www.youtube.com/user/RaccoonRacing?blend=1&ob=5
that his car right there, lol its funny but it works...

its not a carb vs efi thing its a i have carb lets work with it for now till i get efi thing...lol
he's talking about a 4ag running on carbs. the dizzy is electrical advance as apposed to the 4af carb which is vacuum advance.
not going bike carbs since im now plannin on goin efi in a few months. i guess as of now im just getting another 4af block and rebuilding that to drop in. or maybe 7af for extra torque. for now really i just need a good reliable block.
damn piston rings....

lol yeah i feels you... the 4ag carb is kool, it sounds awesome, but once you get some G force in, and the gas is swashed around in the tank, you might get some fuel cut off, idk if this happens to anyone esle, but it happened at lease 2-3 times on my gtsr5 carb..
