Empty hose on passenger side going through firewall
there is a hose in the engine bay fire wall, there is nothing connected to it... it goes into the passenger side footwell and up into the black air box thing under the glove box... any idea what does this?? would this lead engine air into the cabin? i blocked off the tube hoping this will stop fumes from entering the car, im just hoping this solves my problem
sounds like the a/c evaporator hose. Turn on your a/c and if water is coming out, then it is all ok.
edit: and do you have fume problems? it could be from a cracked exhaust manifold that is allowing exhaust to flow in with your air intake underneath the windshield

i have a fumes problem but only when starting up car and leaving house... usualy on cold starts... after 5 minutes of driving its completely gone weird huh
is that where the clean air comes threw? under the windshield cowl trim? if so i am going to look for that and block it off.. i just want to block off whatever holes that are leading fumes into the car
was it not built with a/c or is it broken? Yes air comes from under the cowl and there should be a fresh air-->circulated air switch in the center dash.
Cars run rich on cold starts until they get warm enough to get the catalytic converter warmed up when it starts collecting the CO and converting to CO2.
Also, if you have a fume leak with all windows closed, you should consider tracking it down soon. Don't wanna pass out driving.

outdoors of course, whenever you open window in garage all you get is fumes into car... you need to leave the garage first and then open window... its weird cause usualy it doesnt get fumes into the car untill i drive a block down from where i started up the car... hmm maybe it is the flex pipe like the other guy said, since the car sits at idle, leaks threw the flex pipe and fumes build up in engine bay, then once you drive down the block it enters the cowl?? hmm i could swap out flex pipes soon with parts car but i will have to extend my o2 sensor somehow.. is speaker wire to use for extending an o2 sensor?
edit wait i just eed an o2 senor block off plate... hmm where will i find that, wonder if lordco or napa carries them

The hose you refer is probably a wire loom that carries the wiring harness from engine bay to inside car. Have you ever put car up on jack stands and started it cold to determine where your exhaust leak is coming from? If it is that noticeable inside the car it should be easy to locate. Probably exhaust manifold gasket or the flex pipe or it's connection to rest of exhaust system.
No Im fairly sure thats the AC tube, why its there, its a mystery if your car doesnt have AC...
The reason you're getting fumes in the car is because you have an exhaust leak a small hose like that wouldnt matter anyways, because air would be blowing out from it, as its post motor in the fresh air ducting and the motor is pulling air through the cowling.
i checked all the bolts in the exhaust system, i just didnt check the flex pipe... you guys for sure that the non a/c cars dont have the tube? i noticed the car has gotten stinkier inside, not sure if this has to do with pluggint the tube or not.. it did rain last night and i found a leak at the tail light, near exhaust... there was a big hole near the tail light from previous owner accident... i clogged it up with silicone... now we just gotta wait and see if it still smells like exhaust fumes but i am pretty sure it was entering from that gap near the tail light, it was pretty big

the parts car i have also has no a/c but has the tube..
edit, i uploaded this picture for the other guy but might as use it here also, there is no a/c button as you can see in the picture.. but it also has the tube... maybe all canadian model cars have them??

i had that same problem on my sedan, when start itll fume for about 5 mins and itll be gone, my exhaust manifold wasnt cracked, but the gasket to the head was done, so i swapped that out and i dont have that fumes anymore...

OMG so blue, like the old Ford Taurus. If you still encounter the smell, bring it in to a shop with a "sniffer" which can detect trace amounts of emission coming from cracked pipes or manifolds. For sure a dealer would have one, but outside ones are hit and miss.
