I would doubt so the tube doesnt go from cat to air clenaer, rather from air cleaner to cat. Its an air injection system that flows fresh air into the cat to make it work properly, plugging it can cause other issues.

Your overheating is something else, I would check the cooling system.

look into the thermostat, the water pump hose in the rear of the motor and the heater core and hoses... that might be your culprit, i had one of those symptoms on my car, it over heated once, looked at it, and it was the water pump hose in the rear, so i replaced all of them including the water pump, i spent about $80 on all parts new and installed...

i have search all these and replaced every cooling system part possible. that pipes blowin hot air into the carb and the overheat is not showing on the gauge... the reason i know it is it, is because i unhooked it and the problem stopped its very confusing

Well Cats do clog up and have to be replaced sometimes..........Take your Cat off and run a 'TEST PIPE' to see if that is the real problem........Sometimes the exhaust manifold will glow red at when you look at it at night.........Idk, take a look at that first.?

'(glows red when clogged)'
