Unconnected things on my 4AF A/T

While replacing my water pump, I notice some unconnected things in the engine compartment of my 4AF A/T 1989 Corolla. (The engine runs OK.)

On the driver's side there is an unconnected white electrical connector:

Anyone know what that's for?

On the passenger's side there are a pair of unconnected vacuum lines.
I've looked in the service manual and these lines aren't shown. The car has the Federal emissions setup. In the service manual, the place where the one line enters the VSV has no line on it and the diagram show it to be capped. Could these lines be to test something?

The service manual shows the line with yellow paint on it should be connected to the "HAC & EBCV", (the gizmo on lower left of photo). However, this line is unconnected and too short to reach that far. Any reason why someone would disconnect this line?

On my 4AF those vac lines go to the power steering i think, so i think they should be connected. Ill go take a look and see where they plug into.

Thank you, eberbs1. I looked on the power steering pump. I can look through the wheel well up at the bottom of the pump and I see a black plastic valve on the pump. It has two nipples on it. I don't know which line goes to which nipple - or whether it matters.

I looked at the steering system info in the service manual and it does describe the purpose of the lines. They are to let more air in the engine when the pump is working hard. However, it only gives a very general description. It doesn't show the same level of detail as the sections on the emissions systems.
