Gen6 Shifter

I have a 90 corolla, 5speed. Im redoing the interior and thought of getting a new shiter rod. Ive already got a new knob. Is there any site that has a shorter one? Mine seems too long for me and needs to be shortened by a couple inches. Any good sites? Please and thanks

most people here use the TRD short shifter, but I'm not sure it's still available. search the forum, I think some people have used AE101 short shifters.

or you could just take it to a shop and have them chop it shorter for you...

Yea, chop out an inch or two and weld back together. If you dont like how high it sits, I know you wouldn't like the shifter sitting just as high except towards the passenger side even though the shift throw is shorter... Which is the characteristics of the TRD short shifter. Dont think they were made avail for LHD vehicles.

You can still occasionally find the TRD quick shifter. I think there still may be one on ebay but for a hefty price.

Don't chop and weld shifters, you're shortening the height but not really shortening the throw length/angle, and if you do it too much you get a really odd shift feel. Better off to either swap in the AE101/102 shifter arm (common mod) or if you want to go custom, take the arm out, heat the ball up and bash it further up the shaft. Then space the whole shifter assembly up to give clearance around the base - that way you're shortening the height AND the throw length (since both the pivot lengths are changing)
