wife got me early christmas present: sneak peak of what's to come

so the wife helped me get this and im dedicated to making it work no matter what.

so this means my smallport is FS, im trying to get $400 for the smallport 4age (not engine pictured) engine or $500 for both engine and tranny, the c52 is in decent condition, it doesnt grind, but third gear is starting to become knotchy somtimes.

Nice gift!

This is one of the few good wife or girlfriend stories I ever hear involving a man and his car.

I always hear stuff like "Oh I can't buy too much", "too expensive", "I can't buy a two door coupe M3 so I had to buy a four door M3".... all ending in "my wife/ girlfriend". All sorts.

I read the wiki article too fast haha, looks like only the blacktop beams came with 6 speeds.... and they were in the Altezzas (RWD)..

I'm not sure which I would prefer, this or a 2ZZ. They're both great engines.

i like the 2zz also, but with the 3sge although it weighs a little more it also makes more torque. alot of the dyno figures i seen has this engine around 140-150wtq and 159-165whp. the 2zzge makes almost the same maybe less, but does have the advantage since its a newer design and has lift. its tobad the 2zzge cost so much still. we only picked this up for $1000, and after i sell the old stuff and such and add the new stuff i plan to only have spent $1000 total. it will cost everyone differently, since i have friends that can fab stuff my cost is prob lower then some. ill add more pics with more progress, im just wondering why i dont see pics of these in ae92's i know a couple people prob has done this, but its rare to see their pics, maybe im stupid for sharing my build instead of keeping it a secret lol.

yeah i know... trust me, i would go 3sge as well... its just that i kind of just want a clean looking car, with a nice smog legal and all... no i would love to see and read your build though, but any case, i just wish i had the funds... i was out living in MN with my cousins, and i brought this with me, i would just do a major swap... but since i live in cali and they are too strict, i dont want too much attention...

took some pics of the progress today. heres the mount im going to use by the timing cover.
looks like im going to have to drill a hole on my frame. i could either 1. cut the side of the frame and weld two nuts then weld the frame close again. or 2. drill stright through the frame and use a very long bolt/stud. i still gotta remove the stock engine mounthing point.
the front engine mount from the celica looks like it would work if i widen the hole on my crossmember a little, but atm without the engine being mounted yet i dont know what i need still. but the fact the celicas (right) is higher would help tilt the engine.
looks like the celica short side axle (top) is about 2-3 inches longer then the ae92 one. i have 2 options i'm going to try, 1. change the celica's differential side cup with the ae92 one so i can use the ae92 axle. 2. try an see if the celica st162 gts axle is the same length as the ae92's. i checked the passenger side axle and the celica's shaft is the same length as my ae92's, so thats no problem on that side.

lastly the tranny side mount on the celica s54 is pretty narrow and might not mount up to the ae92's side mount without modifying the battery tray mount, but even after that it might pull it up higher towards the body frame, making it not work.
heres what i found out my c52 plate mounts up to the celica's tranny, with slight modification the 3rd hole will probabally be able to be used.

im going to try mounthing the s54 tomorrow to see how well all 3 mounts on the tranny mount up. after that on friday i hope to have the engine in and mocked up to see what i need to modify more to mount.
