Steering Wheel Swap

The corolla used to be a beater car, but I've been driving it more in recent history and the steering wheel drove me nuts. I decided to go ahead and pull the piece of crap and custom swap in something else. I went with an IS300 wheel with Eshift buttons and a Celica/Corolla airbag. Figured I'd post some pics for those that may care.

OEM toyota splines match up. The clockspring wouldn't work and since this wheel only needed a horn I decided to CNC up a custom clockspring adaptor for the original horn trigger. I removed the airbag from the wheel since I not only didn't want it, but also wanted to make sure there was no doubt that you had a lethal weapon pointed at your face. The wheel matches the interior great, looks OEM, and increases the feel of the car incredibly since this is what the driver interacts with. For those curious why I chose an E-shift wheel, it was simply something I had left over from another project that I was going to do on an old drag car, so it was basically free for me. I removed the cruise control switch, so it's cleaner looking. The airbag cost me all of 60 bucks. I like the OEM feel and look of the wheel combo far better than the aftermarket solutions.

Figured someone out there might care .

thats awesome, i love the way some of the newer cars steering wheel feels compared to all the late 80's to early 90's toyota steering wheel. i too would actually perfer this route if i havent already gotten an aftermarket steering wheel.
