Pissed off weedeater

So my project name is pissed off weedeater, long story short im building a FWD rally cross car thats also a daily driver haha.

So i want to lift it an inch higher, but i also want a stiffer suspension, so in theory cant i put 2 inch lowering springs on it like a performance one, then put a 3 inch strut top mount lift block on and keep the same camber aspect as if just lifting it one inch on stock suspension?

i would not use aftermarket lowering springs for this. they are to soft imo, i dont know what kinda springrates a rally car needs, but if you get one of those ebay coilover spring collar and use a tall coil spring it should work. or if you must stay with the stock strut body i would measure the area where your springs seat and go to the junkyard. using a spring off a heavyier car should work good, since heavyier cars have increased spring rates, for example st185 celica fronts with aw11 mr2 rear springs.

btw i think if you raised the car with a strut top spacer and used aftermarket lowering springs, you'd run into damper stroke problems still. i know a couple guys here setup their cars for dirt and some setup other cars for dirt so hopefully they chim in and help you out.

i was looking at the coil overs on ebay and to pricey for me right now, but stiffer springs help ALOT on dirt. less body roll and digging into the dirt, and more staying on top of it. but i agree with the damping, and i dont have access to a junk yard that i can just walk into anymore

you really don't want springs that are that stiff. I would probably go 150 lb/in maybe 175?

you definitely don't want lowering springs. the entire reason people lift their cars is to get more suspension travel. your car has plenty of clearance for rallycross. Suspension travel sucks on our cars, you don't want to loose any of it.

you can find used coilover sleeves for dirt cheap. I would just get a set of those and run some giant 2.5" springs.

Most impreza guys run 225F/200R with no sway bars and their cars are much heavier.

Here is a set an impreza guy made out of stock STi struts:
