16 inch wheels & spacers

hi i just got a new set of 16x7 rims with et40

it came with two 195-50 r16 dunlop direzza tyres in good shape, since there is not much difference in the radius with the tyres it should carry (205-45 r16) I bought another two in order to complete the set

is a nice change from my old 13 inch rims

when I tested them in the front they fitted ok
but in the rear the tyres where too close to the struts (they rubbed a little)

so I got 5mm spacers for the back
now there is a safe margin

the only problem is that I will have to get longer studs for the rear

without the spacers the lugs needed 7 turns to lock
with the spacers now the lugs lock at 5

some say its ok, but I don't feel to safe with that

apart from that it only needs to roll the guards so the tyres won't rub whith the inner lips

I had 5mm spacers on the rear on my AE92 for years and never had problems.

so you think 5 turns is ok?

I have been driving the car 8 days and the lug nuts are still tight, but didn't used the car on highway

I am still getting the extended studs just in case, but It will take 4 days since they are custom made

putting new rims in a car is more complicated than it looks, from getting the right offset wheel to putting spacers, longer studs, lug nuts and rolling arches

but the final result makes it worth
