Swapping auto to manual

Hi just want to ask quick question.. Will 1.6l 4af manual box fit into 1.6l 4af auto engine? Is it a straight swap and bolt on??Has anybody done this? Any issue?

it's a bolt on. you will need EVERYTHING though. pedals(gas and brake), shifter, clutch master, slave, hard line, flex lines, trans, mounts, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, bolts. as for wiring, there is a neutral safety switch wire that you will need to hook up to the clutch pedal(or bypass but not recommended, black & black/white) and also you will need to hoop up the wires for the reverse light switch(located on the trans red/black & red/blue). you could even use a ae100 trans but you will need to use the mechanical sending unit from the ae92. i'm not sure if ae100 pedal and shifter will fit, but the trans can be used in a pinch.

one nice thing is there should be dimples on the firewall to help you locate the holes you will have to drill for the clutch master/pedal mount.

About the neutral safety switch, what I did was used a piece of wire to jump. There's a 4pin connector you'll have to unplug off the auto trans. Two of those pins will need to be jumped, otherwise it will not allow the car to try to start. That's the simple way and worked perfect for me. Just take caution when starting in gear

The reverse light connector is the same.

The center front lower motor mount is slightly different than the one from an auto trans. So, you'll need to swap that as well. But a crooked motor mount will not harm anything which is what I did for a while.

I find that the "jumped" bypass tends to run down my battery. But in a pinch it will work.

Being that you have both cars I'd pull the Ecu and engine harness too. If not you might have a CEL because the Ecu don't see the auto Trans anymore

that's good to know. when i did a 5 speed swap for a friend with a 7AF it threw up a CEL converter lockup code. guess it's looking to put the car into OD.

you want to at least take the plug and a bit of the wire from the manual trans reverse light switch. should be on the top side of the the trans near the drivers side motor mount.
