few questions about my new engine and the loom.

Hello
I´m new her and i am hoping to get some answeres about my corolla touring http://i35.tinypic.com/2vulhk0.jpg and my plan to change the engine. I have a 1989 corolla with a 1600 carb engine 4x4, and i´v just got my hand on a 1600 4age tvincam gti engine in a good condition but there is no loom,it had been cut of to get the engine out of the car it was in, so i need to get a new one. But there is a twist, i live in Iceland and there are maybe 4-5 gti left here and almost no sparte parts to find for the electricsystem, so I am looking for a place that sells something like that, a website or something that might own one and want to sell.

i did check ebay but did not find anything there.

Also i was thinking, is it possible for me to use a loom from a 2L celica twincam engine instead of the original one, or do I have to look for the original stuff?

Thanks in advance.
Adam

Welcome... fellow All-Trac / 4WD / Carib Sprinter owner! Is your model a right-hand drive, or left-hand drive? You have the front bumper that I love so much. And side markers...

You could try another forum (which I can't mention here, but can send you a PM) to buy a used loom. Do you have a partial loom? Like the connectors that are on the engine and some of the wiring, but not all the way through the firewall? If so, you may be able to extend the wires and run them to the ECU (computer). By the way, you will need the 4A-GE ECU. This can also be bought from someone on a forum.

What year is the 4A-GE? Is it bigport (T-VIS equipped) or smallport? Also a bit of advice, while you can fit the GE into that AE95, you will need to grind away some of the block & oil pan to clear the transfer case. There's a lot more info about swapping a 4A-GE into an AE95, but I think I've typed enough for one post
