I also own a toyota 4runner (hilux surf in UK and rest of the world). I know people there is going back to stock air filter after trying the cold air intake. think for a minute... if that add horse power, toyota would do it before send it to the market.
Things to do to your car: Try to stay with Toyota products.
New engine oil + filter
Air filter
fuel filter
Injector cleaner (STP or a good brand) : use the cleaner when you are doing long trips. I usually use a 1 bottle for about 1/4 tank (high concentration).
30 PSI all around.
Check the timing belt, if needed replace it. (if you have a manual and tools it is a very easy job)
Check the quality of the Drive belts specially the one runs through the alternator. This belt runs through the water pump. If it breaks it will stop pumping the water all around and boil the car!
Gear box oil change
Use the car everyday. See how it treats you. Once you feel it is the car want.... thinkin of putting wider tires like 195/60R13 or 205/60R13. This will give good traction and control. Replace all the brake pads shoes with toyota products. (Dont use the ceramic stuff or any new material as they all are crap)
Later, take off the seats and remove the floor carpet and wash it. Do a detail inside. May be a tint.
I'll get pics of my car soon. I dont know how to post pictures on this site.
I deal with corolla parts on ebay. There are lots of junk yards around my town. I don't know how much to ship to UK, but it is not that bad either. I have shipped parts to Europe and shipping charges are pretty decent.
Alright thanks ill get to it but yeah let me know what you have pics I wanna see your car
Depends on what engine is in the car. If it has the 1600cc 4A-F, 4A-FE or 4A-GE (that last one would be pretty rare though ) under the bonnet and if it is FWD: Then yes, your cars chassiscode is AE92.
You can also find al this information on the chassisplate/sticker somewhere on your car.
I haven't come around to translating this page. It is still in my native language so you might not understand most of it. But you might be able to get the big picture and make out the tables I have on there.
I have a entire page explaining how the Toyota modelcoding works (at least in the late '80's early 90's):

Thanks dude really big help my car has a 4afe engine and I went to that link but its written in a differnt langue I can read it lol . An also I was going to pick up this CAi from weapon r but it looks short and aren't CAI pipes suppose to be long ? Do you think you can look In to that for me ? I'm sorry for the work man lol but it's called a Weapon R secret weapon cold air in take for a 91 toyota corolla on amazon it's like pretty affordable and That will be the first thing I do to my project .
But here's the link I don't know if it'll work
Basically he shows you in the chart... the A is for the engine family, the E is for the model, the number is the generation & chassis.
AE92 is broken down like this.
A = "A" family engine (4A-FE)
E = Corolla
92 = sedan (1600cc, FWD)
If you swapped in a 3S-GTE engine / tranny into your AE92 sedan, you could call it an SE92, I suppose. Probably the best way to refer to all 6th gen Corollas is E90.
What I don't understand is why the FWD wagons are AE95, when they're a completely different body styling to the 4WD/AWD wagons. Or why my VIN has AE94, but the firewall says AE95.

I agree. E90 is the best designation for the 6th gen Corolla chassis
And you kind of already answered your own question. The body styling is different, but appart from the 4WD system, the basic chassis for the wagons are the same. In the chassiscode, the bodystyling isn't important.
That's why the hatchback's, sedan's and liftback's can all have the same chassiscode eventhough the body's are completely different.
But it is weird that you Wagon has a AE94 designation on it's VIN. according to my information, the AE92 code was only used for the AWD sedan.
But then again. The VIN is handeled by the Toyota importer for your country and is given to the car after it has left the factory and when it's in the country where it will be sold etc.
The number in the firewall is stanced in the by Toyota themselfs when the car is manufactured. That should always be correct.
The VIN can be a error in the system of the importer??

That's what i meant with 'I haven't come around to translate that page yet'
Tried your link, but it doesn't seem to work. But pretty much all of these filter systems are the same. So in general: It depends on what your definition of a CAI is. Some people think a cone filter on itself is already a Cold Air Intake. Some brands use it just as a marketing frase.
But you are right in saying that if you want a true CAI, the air should be sucked in somewhere outside the enginebay and the pipes will have to be longer
But that said...what do you expect out of this mod? More power or just a nicer sound?
If you are looking for more power with this filter...don't excpect wonders to happen. Gains in power (if any) will be moddest at best
But the throatier sound might add some 'psycholocial hp's' and a nicer sound and better look under the hood is worth some bucks to some people, so why not right?

Ohhhh okay that's real cool so I should just call my car an e90? I'm a noob when it comes to all this stuff any suggestions I and kick some hp in my car ?
If you go with a CAI keep in mind your OE airbox has an air temp sensor in it (in grommet on side) that supplies info to computer. Make sure your CAI has some provision for making use of that sensor. The 4AFE is a good little engine but keep in mind it was engineered by Toyota for fuel economy and that it does very well. Still a fun car to drive in it's stock form IMO.

Bro an e90 is also a 3-series sedan, I wouldn't go around calling it an e90 :p
