AE92 Stereo & Climate Control Bulb DIY *56K ouch*

Okay, here's the first of a few DIYs that I would like to start. This first one here is to replace the climate control bulb & stereo in an AE92 SR5/GTS, enjoy! (any maybe sticky )

The Dash:

Use your fingers to pry off the plastic trim:

Remove the trim and un-plug the connectors:

The dashboard with the trim removed:

Remove the knobs from the climate control:

Unscrew the 4 screws holding the climate control cover on:

Tug the climate control plastics off:

The climate control with plastic trim removed:

Unclip the clear plastic "light spreader" in two locations:

Remove the clear plastic:

The very small bulb is in the bottom-center, the bulb number is #74:

Remove the bulb using your fingers:

Unscrew the 4 screws holding the stereo assembly in (8mm socket):

Once the screws are removed, pull out the assembly:

Unplug the stereo antenna and wiring harness:

The stereo is attached on the sides using the stock screw locations:

The center of the dash dis-assembled:

Use this to your advantage guys! Hold tight I am going to be making DIYs for the gauge cluster & front speakers as time allows, enjoy!

Kudos..........let me say......WELL DONE!!!!!!!! (and I mean that)

I've seen a lot of DIY's that fall a little short.......yours is EXCELLENT!!!

Reminds me I need to do the same to my '95 'cuz my climate controls are loose underneath so when I twist any of the knobs, the whole thing moves underneath the front face-surround. Hopefully, '95 just pops off with fingers like that too, then I can screw it down good & tight. (And the cig lighter too as I pulled out my phone's charger the other day & the whole receptacle came out.......LOL!)

Thanks! Great work!!

Yeah pretty good.. ahem.. thanks to ahem.. ahem.. someone out there for wording it first and making it easier for you right..

I always thought about doing DIYs with pics but I never get the time or chance to do it.. I need a garage.

BTW did you find a Xenon bulb for that size??? I removed the blue crap on mine and its brighter.. same thing with the dashboard bulbs.

You can actually pull the bulb out from the back much easier then un screwing all that. But i already had my deck out so ya. A standard LED will fit in there nicely too.

It looks like a very detailed instruction. The light near the climate control of my 98 Corolla went off recently. Can this instruction apply to a 98 Corolla?
