you can keep the stock ecu if your running around stock boost, might be a good idea to get a piggyback like emanage to fine tune. ive heard of people running 18 psi on a stock gze bottom end
If you just asked that question, clearly you didn't read the links.
all the links are about the 4a-ge wich is not really the same thing they cauld be talking about the 20v 4age which is really not the same engine at all
who this threat as gone crazy lol what are all you guys talking about and i saw that the 4agze internals (for the 3th gen) can take like 18psi safely the head gasket cant take more than 10psi tho any way i am lost ??
you might be able to handle that kind of boost on a rebuilt shortblock.... but anything with a lot of miles you should consider rebuilding or keeping the boost low
the 1st gen electronics won't work with probably anything over 10psi... it's never supposed to see anything over 7 or so....

ok the stock botom end of a 4agze from a mr2 (1st gen) can hold up to 300 hp. if you want a good combo for a turbo 4agze use the gze botom end, and the low comp head with a hks head gasket and arp studs and have fun at 18 to 20 psi of boost all day. also use the emanange ultimate and you can remove the maf or map sensor all together and go djetro.
stock gze engine and box can easily handle 1bar of boost. just need to get some sort of fuel adjustment to augment fuelling for boost above stock (about 8psi). if boosting above 1 bar, you need a new map sensor but the stock block can still hold up. we've seen gze's boosted to 18, 20 and even 25psi with stock internals hold up in a 1320.
