Availability of Factory XM radio, bluetooth and nav with XM Nav Traffic is nice. Maybe you will be able to use more functions of the nav than older Toyota nav systems without having to pull over to the side of the road. Who knows?

Negative things I see right away are 4-speed automatic transmissions still being released on new models and gas mileage of 2.4 is comparable to the 3.5 V6 engines in Accord and Camry.
It's really ridiculous about the 4-speed automatic on a new for 2009 Corolla unless it is going to be priced way less than the Civic.

Fuel economy is worse than before even taking into account the new testing standards:

http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2...9-corolla.html

What are they thinking?

Just look how old the guy driving it is....

This Corolla does not look very competitive, to be honest, it's completely absurd to have worse gas mileage from generation to generation, this Corolla looks oversized and underpowered compared to the competition.

I assume it still uses the twist beam rear axle...even the lowly focus uses an independent rear suspension and a good one at that!

I just re-read, no 5-speed auto? No 6-speed manual? What's the deal?

It is a shrunk down Camry, right down to the 2AZ engine.

But where else do they find a reasonable 4cyl motor that got more horses? 2AZ is the next step up from 1.8 1ZZ/2ZR.

I still love my gen 8 little piggy more.

Nav Traffic is available on the Corolla? Now that's progress!! My ES350 navi system doesn't even have that as an option - and I paid over twice as much!!

The XRS model looks nice though - kinda like a mini Camry SE. This Gen10 looks more evolutionary than revolutionary.

I kinda like it and i kinda dont... the lights i like.. the xrs looks good but i dont suspect thats the one you're always going to see on the road. Something about it looks unfinished to me... like maybe it needs fender flares or the sides just seem unfinished. i love the new camrys and it does have some of it's looks. interior looks good.

wheres the rumoured rwd coupe mang?

My primary concern with this car is it's curb weight, where the Corolla has been getting heavier with each generation.

Just curious if it would actually provide decent acceleration times.
