Price difference depends on where you shop guys, haha....
I've seen some places where the BT costs almost 2X than the ST, of course its not worth it. Many reasonable places nowadays sell BT's for $200-400 more than ST's. Good deal if you ask me, can't build up a ST with couple hundred bucks. Cams alone already cost more than the price difference.
Very true, I had intentions of buying one of those $400 Silvertops I kept hearing about from all the Toronto guys, apparently some shop in the north end had a few of them for sale. Where as blacktops, you can't find them for under $1200 around here.

For the money, I'd rather have the blacktop. It's not just a few extra HP, it's a lighter rotating assembly as well.
Right now finding cheap blacktops has gotten easier. Finding nice blacktops seems to be more of a problem. Seems like more of them are all sludged up. Finding a nice silvertop is easier.
With the silvertop, if you want to run open thottles, just run the blacktop ecu. You can ditch the airbox, and you get a higher revlimiter.

Will it just plug right in, or do you need to re-pin the connector?
You will also need a MAP sensor.

Modification: Changing something to what you thought it should have been from the start!
You do have to repin the ecu connectors, and there are a few other modifications that you have to make. If you're running the Silvertop AT ecu, the ecu pinouts are almost identical. Of course you have to run the Map and Iat sensors instead of the afm. Fortunately a map sensor from just about any corolla will work. 5sfe Celica map sensors work well also. Just about any toyota IAT sensor works fine.
I'm running blacktop electronics on my silvertop, and like it better. A higher revlimiter, a bit better topend, and the option to run stacks.
When I do 20v wiring harnesses for mr2's and ae86's, running a silvertop on blacktop electronics is a popular option. The nice thing about running BT electronics with the ae86 is that you don't have to get a custom airbox made.
I also make an ST to BT adapter. It takes almost all of the wiring out of the switchover.
