I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem with their corolla as me. I have an 03 and my engine light stays on, but everyone keeps telling me that it can be fixed however those who say it can't ever fix it. plus my spark plug ports keep filling up with oil and they cant fix that either.
Behind every check engine light there is a code. Your first step is to get it read, either at autozone or borrow a "OBD2 scan tool" and do it yourself. Then post back here with the code so we can give you pointers. That for all we know, could be related to the oil you see in your spark plug ports.
he is right about the check engine light. got to autozone and they can hook up a scan tool and it will check to see why that light is coming it.
and about the oil in the spark plug problem.
im no mechanic (atleast not yet) but my first guess is a bad head gasket or some bad rings on the piston.
in order to find out, you would have to rip off the head anyways. so unless you can do it yourself. try finding someone who can it for a reasonable price and time.

i have an 1985 toyota corolla GT-S thats probably gonna be a parts car since i cannot obtain a title for it.
if you need parts send me a PM and i can see what i got.
I have already had everything replaced and it is still doing it.
you replaced the rings on the piston?? and the head gasket??
the my next guess would be the head itself.
is it a DOHC? or SOHC? or an OHC at all?
sorry but i dont know much about the newer cars =\
im an old school kind of guy lol, my corolla is too new for me and its an 85

ok they replaced the plugs, valve covers and rings, and plug seals. They did a tune up also and did something with the cylinder head, but it idles hard.

Bad rings could be it. If the rings are bad you wouldd get blow-by which I believe would get recirculated through the cylinders (with the oil). But basically it is burning oil if there is oil on the plugs and the ports.
But you don't need to take the head off. Just do a compression test. If it fails that, then rings and head gasket are possibilities. If you have white smoke coming from the exhaust then you have a bad head gasket. If not you can do a wet compression test and if it passes you have bad rings. I'm still a student but I have 1 semester of engines completed and am almost finished with two. If I'm wrong on anything here, feel free to point it out, I'm still a student so I can make mistakes.

also if i may add...the spark plug cylinder may be cracked but its almost imposible but it has happend to me before on my civic due to neglagence...but the seals is all i can think of no need to pull off the whole cylinder head if there is no white smoke comming out of the exaust...

My 06 did the oil in plug hole thing as well and I just had to tighten the valve cover bolts and it went away so I'm thinking that you need to take it to another shop and show them the problem. I'm thinking that they will just change the valve cover gasket for you.
It has nothing to do with taking your cyl. head off or any major repairs, it's just not tight enough or the gasket needs replacing..
That could also be the cause of the hard idle as well because that plug won't fire right.
Try taking it to your Toyota dealer and let them have a look cause if you listen to some people on here you will spend big bucks for a $20.00 job...

Not that you are wrong but the 03 to 08 1.8 ltr engines have a hemi style deep spark plug hole and it goes down the center of the valve cover so if there is a leak in there the oil has no place to go. She just needs a gasket or the cover to be retightened.

If you arn't taking it to the dealer than maybe you should, there can only be one cause for oil in the spark plug hole and it seems to me that your mechanic is taking advantage of you.
