Question 01 Corolla Code:P0300 :( help ASAP

I have a 01 Corolla about 110,000 miles.

The car was making loud noises (sounds like: da da da da da da)

at first it (when the noise first begin) was still drivable but the max speed was about 40mph

*Before it gets to the loud noises (da da da da da) my car was running ok however every time I step on the gas it makes a ts ts ts tss sound... sounds like air is leaking from the car. I knew something is wrong but I was taking my chances (poor college student)

then jack pot... it finally got me.

I took it to autozone and they checked it for me... the code I am getting is P0300. The rep introduced me to a mechanic who's shopping for parts @ the store and he told me that I need a new engine?! I had some other people to checked it out but I was told that my engine may be still good just need to replace some parts?!

I had oil change about 2 months ago before this.... however I was told that it's 1/4 lower than where it suppose to be.

*I haven't drive my car since it happened, and it's been 2 days. Now I can't even start the car.

*The 2nd car mechanic (a friend's friend of mine) told me that I just might have to replace the fuel injector and change some spark plugs ... it should be good again... but I've not hear from him again...sigh (what are friends for?)

My questions are...
1) Is something wrong with my engine? (I think the first mechanic is trying to rip me off...)
2) Assume that my engine is good... what parts do i need?

I need some expert advice here...

P0300 = multiple misfires.
Plugs, wires, Bad gas, etc...
Really hard for me to believe that all 4 injectors went bad.

Just start off with the basic diagnosis.
Hopefully that da...da..da..da..da..noise isn't your engine knocking.
