9th vs 10th gen corolla?

hey guys just wondering what your thoughts are ???
just bought a 10th gen corolla ...waiting on the factory to make it lols
but after seeing some youtube videos of a corolla racing a civic si and so meny other cars i was wondering

vs 2 si's
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yN71s...eature=related

vs s2000
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmtbl...eature=related

1. are these stock corolla's?

2. are the 9th gen corolla's faster then the 10th gen ... ? or is it the other way around ....?

9th
xrs 1.8 liter engine produces 170 horsepower but only 127 lb-ft of torque at 7,600 6 speed manual

10th
xrs 158-horsepower 2.4-litre 162 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 r.p.m five-speed manual (what ??? no 6 speed???)

bonus question...
so i don't know much about racing cars ... but when it comes to speed ... whats important ... hp or torque ? ... red line at high revs vs low? ... ( noticed 10th gen red lines much lower then the 9th gen) 6 speed or 5?... also know tires and shocks and aerodynamics, weight, and blaa blaa blaa ...are important too ....

in other words if i took all the specs of a hand full of cars ... how can i tell witch one is the fastest?

speed isn't everything
but i think everything else is pretty easy to answer!!!

9th or 10th

exterior styling ... 10th (the Italians did good) lols
interior styling .... close but 10th again
ride .... 10th
quiet ride ... 10th
blaa blaa blaa

besides power i think the 10th gen got the 9th beat .... unless the 9th is faster of course?????

what do u guys think?

those cars aren't stock.

9th gen XRS hands down. lighter, faster, more powerful. shares the same powerplant as the Lotus Elise/Exige.

Camry drivetrain, mostly unmodified, into a Corolla, is bad. Gearing is too short, but think on the bright side; they're known to return more than double EPA in highly skilled hands.

I think we've seen just about all the bells and whistles we'll ever get with the 10th gen.

9th gen XRS hands down, it does not compare to the new XRS at all... the 2ZZGE motor is a totally different beast.

9th Gen XRS with Celica GTS 2ZZ-GE motor and 6 speed is a blast to drive. It has been showing tremendous potential lately with N/A mods going over 190 wheel HP with just intake/header/exhaust and PFC tune and running 14.0 - 14.1@100 mph on the dragstrip and revving up to 8700 rpm.

Turbo'ed several XRS putting down over 400 wheel HP with only modifed pistons and stock everything.

Completely N/A XRS running 14.2@98 mph with only intake/header/exhaust + PFC tune (check out his other videos as well). That is faster than a WRX:

Turbo XRS putting down 406 wheel HP with only Mahle pistons and stock everything else

The SEMA XRS was TRD Supercharged, not turboed.
The same Supercharger that is available for the Scion tC

Its essentially a 4 door tC with a Toyota badge. I'm glad Toyota has some cars popular in the tuner community, but for the love of god, why not the old 9th gen divetrain?! I'd love a base camry with a 2ZZ in it...

Because the Corolla gained too much weight in the redesign to be able to put that engine to use efficiently. The 2ZZ-GE hardly has any torque at all so in a heavy body like the 10th gen, it would probably be slower than compared to the current 2AZ-FE.

If you were to stick the 2ZZ into the Camry, that would produce results that are even worse.

Going the other way however, if you were to complete a 2ZZ-GE swap in a lightweight 8th gen chassis that weighs around 2500lbs or an MR2 Spyder which weighs even less than that, then the resulting car would simply fly.
