Favorite year/generation of Corolla?

Nothing beats the '84 Corolla to my eyes. Or maybe anything 7th Gen; good look, fun to drive and reliable. How about you? Anything you've owned or just dream you had?

I'm biased since I own a 7th gen so that comes first.

But other than that....
1985-1987 Corolla GT-S
1988-1991 Corolla GT-S
2005-2006 Corolla XRS

That pretty much rounds out my list.

Well, I owned two Corollas. The first one was a 2004 Corolla S and a 2005 Corolla XRS and have driven various other generation of Corollas

I would pick the 9th gen not because I like the whole generation since I was going to sell my Corolla S anyways since I did not like it at all, but then the XRS came along and prompted me to quickly trade it in.

So 2005 - 2006 mostly because of the 2ZZ-GE Corolla XRS 6 speed and an exciting screaming engine and great handling that makes it feel like a very quick small very motorsports oriented car from the ground up. Great quality and amenities for its time and still interior is holding up exceptionally well.

Also, being a challenging car to drive fast with such a high peaky redline, it is also a very rewarding car once you really know how to extract the most out of the screaming motor.

I never drove the AE86 so I cannot say much about it.

Other than that, I love the Corollas I saw as a small kid such as, the 1980 - 1983 3T Corollas. My father had a few of those. I liked the design of the 1988 - 1992. The 1993 - 1997 Corollas were also quite sleek for their times.

I've owned a lot of Corollas so I'll list many. I've never had a bad one though & have enjoyed them all in different ways.

88-91 Corolla GTS AE92
85-87 Corolla GTS AE86
69 Corolla 1.1L - my first car & had over 400k miles on it!
82 Corolla Tercel - my first new car
93-97 7th Gen Corolla -still own a 94 & love it
05/06 Corolla XRS - 9th Gen
03-08 Corolla S - 9th Gen
09-11 Corolla S - I love my 09 S. The best looking 4 door Corolla IMO.

My fave to date was a te72 twodoor coupe.....I cut the springs. It rode so low the factory 13 inch rims were tucked two inches below the the front wheel arch (!!!!) <sighhhhhh> I miss that car still. Rode like s&%t, but conered like the tires were made of velcro and got 30ish mpg doing it. My current project is a 79 te72 wagon. I'm at a tossup between old school hotrod with 2x1v downdrafts slammed on moons/whitewalls and bellflower tips and something along the lines of a kinda euro bruiser---something very smooth and classy that screams autobahn/BMW-killer....opinions?
