I know about oiling the o-ring/gasket.

The problem you'll get with a filter thats got a separating gasket is that you have the possibility of the gakset not coming off when you remove the filter. This leads to GREAT possibilities of double gasketing the next filter and losing all your oil because of the bad seal. I've seen it happen plenty of times.

Frams are on the low end of the pole as far as filters go. They'll work but I'd never use one of them on my car.
