You could use the K&N adapter and get the AEM with the 6" inlet. I think MADTACO used this one. He used the 9" element which looked too long but I guess he fit it in somehow. I would get the 5" long element myself.
There is no wrong way. Do whatever you want. This has worked for me for over 6 months with no problems and excellent filtration. Sturdy as hell.
