Personally If all your concerned about is some crisp clean music, I would just say screw the subs all together. They add alot of sound to the picture but really if your speakers are good enough you should be fine with just them and a decent 2 channel amp to power them (by this I mean component speakers)
Subs add alot of fill sound and boom, but it seems to me that you are just in it for the sound and not so much the boom.
I say you should try my idea and see how it goes, then if you decide its lacking you can always wait and save up for a sub or two. Remember, you dont have to go all in all at once, piece together a system off of good deals you can find off of car audio sites. << this can help you to get some amazing stuff at very resonable prices.
