PCV=positive crankcase ventilation, what it does is use manifold vaccuum to clean out the dirty air and keep the crankcase from pressurizing itself, because upon presure being there the pressure pushes oil past the piston rings and valve seals creating a problem, its a cheap part (under $10) and is super easy to change!
jon_570 for you id bet $1000 its your oil control rings especially if its a 7A-FE (1.8L) as its a common problem with those engines!
