Which side is your starter on the box? Exaust or intake? And is it a C50 or 52? Or worse - Is it auto?

Because if it is on your exaust side and a C50 or an Auto box, your stuck as the starters will keep de-laminating and go bad from the heat.

If however its on the exaust side, and its a C52 box, there is provision to move the starter onto the other side. Just requires boring a hole for the plunger, and tapping the three bolt holes that are there already.

If its on the Intake side - That just sucks. Probably a poor designed starter. Go out and get yourself a genuine Nippon-Denso or an Aussie built Bosch (I have one sitting in my garage, rebuilt) - rebuild it and it should last a while. Mine lasted 10 years with not a hitch before i finally swapped the engine out, so i rebuilt the old one just to make sure but it wont fit the 20v (upside-down)!

Hope you have some luck...
