The biggest problems I have seen from Toyota's automatic transmissions is that they are more often to glitch, same has been found on Honda. Avalon's hesitant transmission has been noted. Major transmission failures is where I see the domestics have more trouble in, interestingly enough there aren't many reports of glitches. I have noticed the cost cutting in some parts ever since 1997, most commonly dead headlights on 4th Generation Camrys and 8th Generation Corollas when they were new.
