Suggest you find a 1979-1981 MA45 or MA46 Supra (looks like the 1979 Celica with a longer nose) or the 1981-1985 wedge shaped MA61.

Then you can easily replace the 5M with a 7M-GE (3000cc, twincam, EFI) with practically no other changes (same gearbox, diff, crossmembers, etc).
With upgraded fuel, exhaust and driveline you could put in the turbo 7M-GTE.
Or go the whole way with a 2JZ-GTE (starts getting more expensive but still relatively simple).
Even the 1UZ-FE Lexus V8 has been done on the MA61 (lots of custom bits required).

The 6 cylinder conversion are easy on the Supra and not too expensive if you do lots of work yourself.
