I'll try to steer this back on course and answer your question.
Toyota being #1 for growth in China right now means just that. GM was in the same position a year ago, with Toyota there. You can't take anything for granted in a market that immense.
Remember that the Chinese have homegrown automakers like Chery coming online. The quality of their products is pretty horrendous right now....but when they learn how to build cars, it'll be interesting to see how the Chinese take to their own.
Biggest question for me right now is not how brand x is doing over there....it's "how bad is the strain on world oil supplies going to be once half of China is driving??" Granted, we may not have to worry about that for a while yet, but eventually we'll need to develop reliable alternative fuel vehicles. I want to see companies taking the lead
in that area more than anything else.
