I'll join in on this one....you guys think like me. I probably will go with the 1.8 only cause of mileage reasons. Not sure if the 2.4 and all the additional costs are worth it for me. I like that Lancer, gotta check into them a little more. I like the Civic Si sedan also, again, not sure I want the added costs for the hp. The Civic EX.....doesn't make me drool. The Corolla S is still my top pick.....barely, the test drives will tell me alot. I want the "fun factor" in my decision along with value and looks. I need a 4cyl, 5spd, air, power, wing and fogs. Alloy wheels are not a must have.

No one has mentioned the Mazda 3 Sport, I had one configured w/ the 2.3, 5spd, spoiler, fogs and 17" alloys at $18,695. Had an "I" w/ 2.0, 5spd, ABS, wing, fogs for about $18,000. (all MSRP) I was looking at em today at a large "Mega" dealership and got to admit I'm liking them alot. A salesman came out and was already telling me how they knock off at least 8~900 from the sticker, and a $750 rebate if you don't go w/ their financing. I had to leave for an appt and didn't have time to check out the Mitsu's (damn!)

So for now Corolla S is top, followed closely by the Mazda 3, Lancer and Civic are 3 & 4. The Sentra, not for me, too ugly IMO. Test drives baby, that the ticket! Now, if I can get a Toyota salesman to screw up and give me an XRS for the price of an S, that'll work. Keep posting pics of your cars guys.....cause I still have a few months of saving. And I mentioned this in another post....Someone start a thread titled, "what I paid for my Corolla". I can't, I ain't got one yet! Help a brother out!

Looks like a tC Spec is all you'll need.
You can add factory wings or fogs but you'll have better selection if you install them yourself. You can also go to wheelmax.com and get rims with tires for as little at $800/set with free delivery.

Specs sell for only $16,091. Can't find what the Spec offers on any other car for the same price.

Oh-forgot to add.....4 doors a must also. If I went w/ a coupe.......I'd go crazy, lotta cool 2 d's to look at. Maybe I could just go around and test drive everything at all the Columbus area dealers........by then the '10's would be out. The Civic coupe is cool I could be happy in that, but the Mazda 3 don't come in 2 doors.

I never really had a chance to look at the scion... until now when you mentioned it. It kinda looks cool. It's actually cheaper than the Corolla. But I'd rather have cool-looking styling than a bigger engine. Once you upgrade the tC's spoilers and wings and fog lamps, you're looking at a car that's 1k more expensive than my Corolla S. If you want a 2-door, I guess it's okay... but I'd rather have a 4 door to give my friends a ride.

And for some strange reason, I keep hearing bad things about the Scion.

To tell you the truth, I actually like the Lancer's body. It looks awesome, in my book. I think it wins a few fractions compared to the Corolla for 'sporty' looks. And it's damn cheaper! But, would you really trade the Toyota reliability and resale value over a Mitsubishi's? I think not!

Scion xB?
The new ones have the 2.4L engine, plenty of room for your friends, 4 door with a big rear hatch.

You can get one for around $17,000. Toyota reliability and a cheap price... you can't lose.

My 07 SE-R seems to be much faster than the new XRS.

That being said. I think the XRS is going to be a great car but I really dislike that VVTL-I was discontinued. I also wish Toyota gave it a little bit more power. The interior/exterior on the 10th gen is a great improvement and I look forward to test driving one soon.
