Anyone know when you can build your own 09' Corolla on Toyota's website? I know they are coming out in Feb. and we are going to be trading in my fiancee's 03' for a brand new one with all the bells and whistles. Thanks!
The 2009's are on the ground, have been since Tuesday. The initial batch of LE's all seem to be Japan built. There are a few manual S models that are US built.
As far as ordering them, it is usualy a few months until Toyota opens that up, they like the first month or two of builds to be as planned.
im interested in the new xrs, i wanted one of the older models but they took premium fuel...this new one takes regular right?...and whats the deal with the VVTI, i mean its dual in all but the XRS? or does the xrs also have it dual?
and why is everyone talkin so much smack about its design? i know its not brand new but the corollas werent supposed to be designed all supercarlike?
Any one know if the 09 Matrix XR is still AWD or not? I noticed that have a separate Matrix AWD with lots of crap on it to make it ugly. So I'm wondering if they changed the XR to FWD, if not we finally get AWD in manual.
I can't say I'm overly crazy about the Build Your Own Corolla site. I prefer to see more features as you build them both interior and exterior... (wheel selection, body spoilers, etc.)
And what are your thoughts about exterior paint color selection?
I would have preferred a pearl finish for the white and a bronzier looking grey metallic, perhaps instead of or in addition to the light sand or magnetic gray. That said, however, the proof will be in seeing the Corollas first hand. And this is really getting picky. I wish there had been an option for a parchment leather, too, in addition to the charcoal leather. I suppose I was hoping to build a champagne car on a beer budget.
sooo no one knows if the dual vvti is in the xrs also? i mean why get an xrs if it has the single and the s or le or whatever is pretty much as quick with the dual vvti? anyone?

No, the XRS does NOT have Dual VVT-i. It is the 2AZ-FE from the Camry. The reason to get it: 30 more horsepower and a bunch more torque. Not to mention the rear disc brakes.

wouldnt they be able to get more hp and torque if it had dual vvti?, cause i mean the older ones had a little more than 170 hp, so im dissapointed man

The AWD model returns, but only as an automatic like before. Model 1938 for the new ones. The XR was a FWD in the 1st generation, the AWD was available but considered a different model.

The 2.4l engine may have less HP then the old 1.8l the XRS shared with the Celica - but - it has more torque and is going to carry the car better. In addition, you now have all the 2.4l performance enhancements available if you want them. IMHO, the 1.8l engine was not all that great, even at the higher HP. What is intersting is they also added the automatic tranny to the lineup for the XRS Corolla.

yeah but if you compare it to the Si civic, yeah the regular corollas are better then the regular civics, but idk about xrs versus Si, i hate the new civics look, but performance wise? plus i read an article saying the acceleration is electronic and it sucks
