Not sure where you're getting your figures from....
I just bought a 2009 Corolla S with Moonroof package in Ottawa, Canada, and the sticker price was $20,890 before tax.
Which dealer did you get it at? Bel-Air, for example, doesn't seem to be interested in negotiating AT ALL when a new model comes in (I tested that theory with a Camry SE last year--forget about $300, they wouldn't go a cent below MSRP!!!) whereas Tony Graham was much more willing to deal. I still have about 6-7 months before I can get mine, but I'd love to know about which dealers are more willing to negotiate on price. Re: the higher price, if you click the include tax/delivery/etc in the Price your Toyota on the website, the MSRP goes up to 23726 for an S with the moonroof package, whereas an XRS would be almost 26000 (ON taxes included) If you add the GST+PST to the price you quoted, your S would be about 23605, so, only about 120 below MSRP. Did you get any goodies thrown in?
When I price an S with moonroof and taxes, I come up with $22370.25 here in Alberta, lol.
In ON, the price-your-toyota gives closer to 26K, for an XRS manual tranny, but we have 8% PST on the car unlike you lucky Albertans Did you negotiate on price or did you have to pay MSRP?

Hmmm.. I got mine at the new Tony Graham in Kanata. Sticker price was $20,890 on the S with the moonroof package.
I got them to throw in bodyside mouldings, a hood deflector and a rear bumper protector....and paid (after taxes and delivery charges) $25,384 for it.
