Maybe you're right about the legroom in the Corolla, but that's what I read on the first page of this thread, and I owned a 2007 Yaris sedan, and It seemed to have more legroom in the back, when my front seat was set for me. The Corolla is definetely wider though.
No.. he's in Canada different countries different prices.
And actually right now on trader.ca the ES300s are going from $17,000 to $28,000 (anywhere from 32,000 to 122,000kms on the clock).
The base Corolla comes with the 130hp 1.8L 1ZZFE, ALL OTHER models come with the new 2.4L motor.
Just to clarify for anyone who may misinterpret that, ONLY the XRS model corolla has the 2.4 liter. I have an 09 corolla S sitting outside with a 1.8L in it.
Don't buy any of those !!! Yaris as a better assembly and a better automatic transmission is you don't drive manual. If you go for the Yaris, better get an HYUndai accent.
Go see somewhere else than Toyota if you can. Mitsubishi are greats !!! Go try a Lancer or a Hyundai or Focus and go drive a Corolla, will talk about it.
If you are looking for reasable value buy a Toyota it is still time until people wake up and see that they are paying for car that are no longer on the top.
Toyota are real rattles box and carry all kind of very pleasant issues these days. Viva la mass production !!!
I own a 2009 Corolla S... and not enjoying very much the Toyota experience.

I have driven the 09 ford focus and the lancer. Lancer's quality is close to the corolla but with bigger engine and more power. Focus is a POS, cheap interior and poor driving feel. Gas mileage, the corolla is the best among the above. I have a 09 S, I think it is a great car for the price.

i drove all of those, as well as the civic. corolla came out on top for me. it rode smoother and quieter than any of them. the mileage in the hyundai and especially the lancer are poor for the class. i traded my 07 yaris for the corolla for a quieter, smoother, and much more comfortable (seating position) ride. i didnt find the assembly of the yaris any better than the corolla. ALL cars in this price range are going to have some rarrles, and i have heard rattles in test drives of all those cars (some worse than others).
I owned an '08 Yaris 3dr with manual transmission. I test drove a Yaris sedan with automatic before I bought my Corolla "S" automatic.
I thought I would like a manual transmission but I multi-task (meaning eat and talk on the phone!) too often for me to drive a stick as my primary car. My girlfriend needed a car so I sold it to her.
The Yaris sedan seemed to have more legroom than the Corolla but the steering wheel seemed too far away (and doesn't telescope.) The Corolla wheel can be set to where I need it but I could use a little more legroom. If they put a telescoping wheel in the Yaris, I think I'd prefer the driving position in that over my Corolla.
I haven't owned the Corolla long enough to know, but if I get anywhere close to the mpg I was getting in the Yaris, I'll be thrilled. I was getting 39+ mpg per tank in the Yaris.
The ride is better in a Corolla, there are more factory creature comforts (sunroof, JBL, Bluetooth, VSC) and the 1.5L gets a little buzzy at higher speeds.
Ultimately, I think if you do any distance driving on a regular basis, you'll be happier in a Corolla than a Yaris.
