Please post ur pros & cons / opinions on the 2009 Corolla & the 2009 Yaris. Tell me what you guys think , before i buy either ? Picture too if anybody has
The Yaris will be about $3,000 less than a Corolla when you put similar options (power windows, locks, stereo w/mp3 compatibility).
The Corolla is a larger car but the Yaris isn't cramped. The Yaris is about the same size as a 1999-2002 Corolla.
If you just want a car to drive you around and save gas, get the Yaris. You just have to ask yourself if the Corolla is worth $3,000 more (larger engine, bigger car).
If I were you, I'd consider the Lancer ES. It has more power than a 1.8L Corolla, better looking IMO, and the price falls in between an Echo and Corolla when equiped.
Echo sedan with power option would run you around $15,500-ish.
Corolla S 1.8L with power option would run you around $18,500-ish.
Lancer ES 2.0L 150hp engine, 16in alloyw, with sunroof & 650watt Rockford Fostgate will run you $17,240.
Yaris Pros:
- cheaper to buy/insure/refuel
- flexible cargo area (if it's the hatchback)
- very spacious (sedan)
- "premium" econobox/subcompact feel such as push-activated cupholders (sedan)
- tons of storage space (hatchback)
- high seating position
- black interior
- tons of storage spaces (hatchback)
Cons:
- a little buzzy at higher speeds
- sculpted front/rear seats offer basic support
- it's still a subcompact (exposed screwheads, hard plastic, cheaper plastic interior door handles etc)
- can get very close to Corolla prices when loaded
- most of storage spaces are open and not lidded
Corolla
Pros:
- Brand new design
- lots of standard features
- standard safety features (ABS w/EBD, BA, 6 airbags)
- optional TRAC/VSC
- better materials (cloth, plastic)
- Quieter, more comfortable ride (wider track, acoustic windshield)
- Brand new 1ZR engine
- premium compact feel (tight panel gaps, damped lower glovebox, larger front seats, solid feel to the switches and other components)
- tilt/tele steering wheel
Cons:
- It's a Corolla. Not as exciting to look at compared to a Yaris HB
- Colours are typical (white, black, silver, grey, beige... only red stands out)
- larger car (if parking space is a premium)
- higher price tag over the Yaris
- slightly lower seating position
- less rear footroom than the Yaris

It has 4 doors and a rear hatch where you can store a buttload of stuff. It's got the new Corolla engine and it's probably slightly larger than the Yaris, but smaller than the Corolla.
It's cheaper and is nicely equipped for the same price as a Yaris.
If you don't like the car buying experience, Scion has fixed pricing, not negotiations, just tell the dealer to hesh up and sign the paper.
I asked myself the exact same question when I was about to buy my Corolla. And a few deciding factors for me were...
Corolla has 6 speakers.
Corolla is bigger.
Corolla has bigger engine. (1.8L)
Corolla has better sporty steering wheel. (I'm a sucker for steering wheels)
Corolla looks cooler.
Corolla will less likely be blown off the freeway when a huge 18 wheeler passes by.
Did I mention the Corolla looks cooler?
Either you follow your HEART or your BRAIN. I followed my heart. My brain is going for a Yaris because it's cheaper, practical, and more earth-friendly.

I have a friend with a Yaris. I rode in Her car the other day and hated it. It was the smallest vehicle I have ever been in. I feel like a collision with a mail box would total the vehicle.

Wow... that's gonna have to be one strong mailbox made out of reinforced steel that's lined with Kevlar.

Lancer is a good car but we're at Toyota Nation Forum...
considering room u should just go for a Matrix but if u are in a budget im pretty sure it'll be worth buying for the price you are asking for....either Corolla or Yaris resale value will still be way better than a Lancer....
Of course. A more expensive car will usually hold a higher resale value over a cheaper one.
hahaha no. Well... yeah but.. no. lol.
There's a 2003 Jaguar X-Type with 23,000kms. It's asking for $23k. It's the 3.0 litre one so back in 2003, it would've cost $50k to START. A 2003 ES300 will not cost $23k now even with 23,000kms. It's starting price is the low $40s.
