I just got word that my '09 Corolla has not survived the journey from Fremont. It was damaged in-transit through the midwest and has been removed from new inventory before arriving at my dealer. Please lower your antennas to half mast.
The search is on for an exact duplicate for the curious collection of specifications found on this fallen soldier. I don't expect I'll see it before the third week or so of April and maybe longer if it has to be special-ordered from NUMMI.
Let us pause for a moment of silence................................
Here's what happened in 2000 to me. I see the 2000 4Runner at the Columbus Autoshow, it's silver SR5 with the sport package (before it became popular) Hood scoop, color co-ordinated fender flares, bumpers and running boards. Wood grain dash, tow pak (for boat)....I special order one with the TRD Supercharger and TRD exhaust. It's like $35K, rediculous, but I wanted it bad. Finally they tell me the slow boat from Japan was in, less than a week til delivery. I sell my truck and borrow girlfriends car for a few days. They call and set up a time that the transport will be in with my 4Runner, after it stops in the Cincinnati at the mother dealership. I go to Toyota Direct, meet up with the salesman, and he shows me another silver 4Runner with hood scoop, no flares, no running boards or wood dash, and no tow pac or Supercharger. The Gen. Man. in Cinci took it off the transport and sold it to his buddy! They almost had to call the cops on me! I told em, " call the mo#%*er's cause they're my buddies cause I am the Police! I'm getting all jacked up again re-telling the damn story! Took another 3 weeks to get what I ordered. I would've walked but I wanted that 4Runner soooooo fk'n bad..........they knock off several thousand for that fiasco, but still burns my ass to this day. Order your own shit you lazy sob and leave mine alone! When I bought the Tundra, I drove to the other side of town and didn't by it from Toyota Direct. Went to Toyota West. This time if I get an "S"....I'll get one on the lot, either white, gray or black, maybe blue. No special order on this one, probably get a better deal too.
Sorry for the rant.....where's the Tylenol!

so is the dealer gonna do anything to compensate youf or the extra wait?
My salesman is off tomorrow. We're going to reconvene on Monday or Tuesday with the sales manager and see what we can work out. Since I have a trade-in on the deal, he's offered and I'm interested in going ahead and getting my old car off the road and taking out a loaner until they can locate another new one to meet my spec.
I welcome any advice on how to handle that. I think the best way to proceed is for the dealer to buy my trade outright for the agreed trade-in amount. That allows me to leave the car with them without any reservations. Putting me in one of their loaners keeps me "on the line" with them too since I could take my money and run if I were to come across another deal.
Since I made the original deal two weeks ago, I've worried more about my old Camry running into a problem than I have worried over it during the entire last year or so. But... I've been planning to drive it at least the next 33k miles to 300k all along. It would just be a rotten coincidence if it pulled up lame in the next 2 or 3 weeks. So even though I'm not really in a big hurry, I'm inclined to go ahead and turn it over to the dealer.
Impelled, it has occurred to me that "my" car might have gotten sucked into some kind of side deal like your 4Runner did. They could certainly sell it to someone else for more money because my deal is based on a discount arrangment through my employer. But it really sounds to me like the car actually got messed up. My salesman said he had at least one other car caught up in the same mess and we have had some very bad weather through the midwestern US over the last two or three weeks. If someone else nabbed "my" car, it's put my dealer on the spot. I'd like to think they didn't do that to themselves, but it could have happened that way and I'd be none the wiser.
me personally i would get rid of the old car as quickly as possible for the agreed value cause dealers are so sneaky you never know...you keep it for a little longer and all of a sudden they might try to pull one on u and pay less
and yea like you said grab a loaner...might as well get something nice while u wait, and since u got their car they'll probably try to get ur car harder

I thought the same thing.
I wouldn't mind to try a Seqouia out. That's what my wife wants to replace our Sienna with. The dealer had a Standard model '09 Corolla with a stick that I test drove. That'd be fine with me too. I suspect it's their advertising loss leader test drive car anyway. Probably won't get something new though. This dealer has a loaner program with their service department. There's probably a pool of not-quite-new cars they use for that.
Kentucky? They don't build any Corollas in Kentucky.
Maybe I misread your message, lol.
Yup, you did. John is in Kentucky, and his car was coming in from California, hence the alternate location to get it from Admitted, my wording is a bit off there, too... Actually meant CA/TN vs ON/TN distance
John, Your getting an S, in super white with the sport pack, power pack, 16" alloys, moonroof, right? That is almost excatly what I want, minus the moonroof. Oh- and a 5 spd. When you get it...make sure you post some pics.
BTW- I'm very cynical of the salesmen/ dealerships.........I don't believe the story.....I think their "snowing" you. They should've went with another story, like the usual big pileup, or swept away in a flood. Doesn't matter, not much we can do really, but wait on the car to get here.
