I was just curious if anyone knows when they'd switch to MY10 Corolla, given that the MY09 started in March '08. I am not expecting (or waiting for) many changes between MY09 / MY10, BUT I am interested in the potential "low interest rate" offers they usually have on the current MY cars when the next MY is right around the corner [heck, the Toyota dealer in Ottawa told me he had REALLY GOOD deals on '07 and '08 Corollas, in ADDITION to .9% financing--I was like, you still have '07s??? Needless to say, I didn't actually fall for it, I want my '09 XRS dammit!!! ]
I'm speculating that there'd be more 09 deals during the fall/winter time...
.Eric
lol, actually I am hoping for a good deal this fall--if this winter we had here is an indication of things to come, I really would prefer to have the XRS with proper snow tires heading into the winter. Maybe one of those Toyota Red Tag days... Don't they have them twice a year? I think they have a Red Tag Sale this month, but, not surprisingly, '09 Corolla is not getting the good interest rate; I can access lower interest rate from my credit line than Toyota Finance rate.

Definitely a GOOD idea to get snow tires...We had so much snow this winter in Toronto and it's not even funny...
There was a Red Tag Event couple weeks ago and like you said, the 09 'rolla wasn't included...
I'm with Jeff and Aug, give or take a month, in 2009. That's going to be a long run, I wonder if the 09 1/2's will have any slight changes? Like 4 wheel disc's? Sometimes the companies will start throwing in a popular option on the 2nd year as a standard item. Wonder what Toyota will do? I see a somewhat lean year for car manufacturers, and as of right now the Corolla is selling just about sticker with no rebates or little incentives. Wait til the lots start to get full, then there will be more "wiggle room".

A perfect example would be the 2008.5 Mazda3 Sport with built-in HID
Red Tag Days it is... I am NOT waiting until Aug 2009 BTW, Eric, you think you guys got snow in T.O.--we have so far 424.7 cm up here in Ottawa, on our way to break the 444 cm record... and Environment Canada thinks next year will have lots of snow as well. Maybe I should start a snow tires thread too, while we are at it...
Newer models usually don't have rebates, low APRs, bargaining is harder and at times they even have markups.
Older models usually have rebates, low APRs and you can bargain with them.
I usually don't like buying the 1st year's model. They're prone to quirks and defects or sometimes they put better equipment on the following years.
My Scion came with steering wheel buttons for the radio and better head unit than the previous model. Got a better APR, no rebates and no negotiations on the price. You just walk in, sign the paper and drive off. Spent less than an hour in the dealership.
I would anticipate that '09 will continue until the typical model year changeover period in the spring/summer of '09. In some ways it's a good thing to buy now because you'll be driving the current MY for a much longer period than normal. If you don't keep cars very long, that would be to your advantage because the age of the vehicle in model years will be younger for longer.

I do seem to keep cars long (9th year on the current one, and I am in the I-want-a-new-car mode as opposed to I-need-a-new-car dire straits )
In fact, I probably COULD wait until the July/August '09 timeframe, but for the fact that I am sooo jealous of you guys who already have one I just saw my first '09 Corolla on the road the other day, it was a black one, either a CE or LE (no way to tell from a distance, at least not in Canada) and IMHO it looked better in person than it did in the brochure pictures.
