Update: New Issue When Downshifting from 2nd to 1st Gear
Well today was bright and sunny and decided to take my new toy out for a spin. As of now, it has 334km on it. I've an auto XRS and here's one issue I noticed today.
So whenever I tried to slowdown the car (between the speed of 20km/h and about 10km/h) I noticed an ABRUPT change of gear from 2nd to 1st. It's kinda rough and I could definitely feel it. I don't know how else to describe the issue...
So this afternoon I took my car to the dealer and told them about it and the technician told me to drive it a bit more.
What do you guys think? It doesn't happen very often nor is it rough every time when the engine down shifts from 2nd to 1st gear.
Drive it for a while to let the ECU learn, it should take care of some of the issues you're having, if not, definitely take it back to the dealer to be checked out.
I have an automatic LE. I've put about 830 miles on it in a month... I've never had or noticed any problems with it when it downshifts from 2nd to 1st gear.

Reason: Cuz I'm special!
I know their entirely different vehicles but......My 07 Tundra downshifts very noticably when coming to a stop or slowing down. It's not hard but it isn't real subtle either, very noticable, it may be a Toyota thing. Keep an eye on it.

It could be how they program the car when you're slowing down. When I'm driving down hill on a freeway in an auto Celica, when no gas applied the car changes automatically from 4th to 3rd gear to do "engine braking".
Guess what, the problem has come back. I once again brought my car back to the dealer and they have contacted Toyota Canada for some possible solutions...
Rut-row is right. I just ordered my new Blue Streak Mica XRS today. Whatever the problem, Toyota will make it right so eagerly looking forward to taking delivery of it.

It's just getting annoying!

Do you change your driving style a lot. If so, try sticking to one constant style, otherwise the computer will be confused whenever you change. Basically, the adaptive strategy sets shift points that fit your driving style, but it needs some time to learn. If you change how you drive, it will need some time to adapt and adjust the shift points so it can shift smooth again.
