What Options would you get for your Corolla 2009 XRS?

Hi Guys,

I'm new to the Toyota forum. I'm getting my new Toyota Corolla 2009 XRS in a few weeks. Really excited... I'm wondering what kind of other options I should get. I'm thinking of the hood deflector, the tinted windows(20% tint), and mb the rear bumper protection.

So my questions are:

Would you get that?
And if so, should I get them through the dealership or get it done elsewhere?

Thanks.

I got rubber floor mats for the winter, and I may get the body side mouldings (probably not).

Other than that, no thank you. Not a big fan of accessories. Factory option or bust, lol.

the only options I really care for are power windows/locks, abs, a/c, sunroof and floor mats.

Factory radio is overpriced and I can get much better aftermarket alloy rims.

Factory options are really expensive in my opinion...I'd just use that extra money on something else, like tires and HIDs...

If you wanna get the rear bumper protector, you may buy one here for $44CDN:

Cool... Thanks for the replies and for the link. Saved me some money there already.

Never bought the rear bumper protector bf and none of my friends I know have one. Anyone actually bought that and found it worth the price? How about the hood deflector? Or do they affect the look of the Xrs?

Are the accessories generally easy to install yourself?

To me, the bumper protector is useless...

Perhaps, but aftermarket accessories make OEM Jeff cry.

Ok .. so OEM stuff not the best idea...

How about tinting the windows? My dealership is charging $499 to do this. Seems kinda high. Anyone had a problem doing that afterwards elsewhere?

Good tint will run from $200 - $300 on a Corolla. At least that's what I learned after talking to a few places around me. It's not difficult though - mine took all of 45 minutes and looks awesome. Keep in mind that anything you do thru the dealer will be roughly twice what you can get it for somewhere else.

Good to know. Thanks to all the replies.

How about the security alarm? I noticed that the security alarm is not one of the standard or available options. Did anyone install one?

I would go Aftermarket with a Security alarm .. because of other additions u could add onto the car. Let's take the 5900 Viper alarm .. it comes with Remote start and security. You could also add on auto trunk pop and automatic window roll down. Also shock sensors and proximity sensors.

I got the dealer to throw in at no charge:

- Body Side Mouldings: I like the look of them, and they're a great benefit when I park in a busy parking lot (unless an SUV is parked next to me).

- Hood deflector: I always get the hood deflectors on my cars as I do a lot of highway driving in the summer and it helps prevent squished bugs on the windshield and rocks from flying on the hood.

- Rear Bumper Protector: I'm glad I got the bumper protector. My last car was all scratched on the bumper from sitting things on the bumper while I loaded the trunk (i.e. camping, groceries, etc..)

My only wish is that I wish you could add splash guards to the S model.

Was not interested in any other options. Was gonna get the window wind deflectors, but my old car had them and they were more of a pain than anything else.

Oh yeah, and they threw in the touch-up paint pen for free. I'm glad because I notice a few little chips on the front bumper....

Thanks to all again.

So I'm still undecided on the BSM(see other thread). Bf I wrote to the forum, I was thinking of getting it. Now I'm leaning more against it. It's not the money I'm concerned about, more on the look of the car.

But I am thinking more and more about getting the Hood Deflector. Can anyone give me a good reason why not to for my Xrs? Just makes sense to me to protect my car from stone chips etc since I do a lot of highway driving.
