Got the call today about 2:30, "Your car is here"! Damn that was fast. Threw the Lt. a vacation slip and took off early. Transaction smooth as silk! Got it for $19,486 and 2.9% for 60 mts, happy as a pig in slop Of course it rained off and on from the second I got the keys, but this car is tight! I love it, wet and all. Still have the $500 one time rebate to get, I'll fax that stuff in tomorrow. Here's why I work my ass off!! When I get both the Corolla and Tundra cleaned up, I'll take some "glamour shots". The code is 1835A, 5 spd manual. Glad I went white, but all the colors are kick-ass!! First pic it was sunny, the last 4 was at dusk right after it rained. Looks good next to it's "Big Brother"! Fk'n Toyota's Rock! Here's the pics:
Wife's happy too...her life get's back to normal, I guess I've been driving her nuts about the car!! She just don't understand! And I can't explain it to her, Ya Know?

car looks great i like the white it's very clean. can't wait to get mine in june or july...my coworker has a friend who can help me get the car for below wholesale price or whatever...gonna call him when i'm ready to buy. congrats and have fun with this car
Lowincash, Before you go to your friend, I would at least get an "Internet quote" from a competitor and have it at hand in your pocket. Then you'll truly know if it is a "deal". Read my other thread (Finally-XRS ordered) that explained my shopping/ buying experience. By June or July...I bet you do better than me.

yah i'm definitely going to try the internet deal too to see what's better. man it's gonna be forever to get to june/july
btw do you have automatic headlights? the ones where when it gets dark or when you go thru a tunnel the headlights will turn on?
Congrats.....I don't mind them but looks to much like a cross between the yaris and the camry S. just to compressed looking IMO but not bad. Even though you don't have lift they look good slammed I know that. Congrats again

That is the point of the whole design... it unifies the Camry, Corolla and Yaris into one single family. And it works great.
Variable Valve Timing and Lift with Intelligence. It was previously equipped on the Celica GT-S, Corolla and Matrix XRS models. It changes the amount of lift applied to the valvetrain at higher RPM's.
lift only works well with a light weight car. it also costs more money to produce a motor that produces maximum power up close to redline. lift only produces extra power around 6,000rpm - 8,000rpm. below that it's a gutless motor. they're also bad polluters, as to why toyota axed it. they also suck when just driving around town, unless you like to shift high. you want torque low in the power band in city driving.
high reving motors are great when racing, specially in a race track. however, i'd rather turbo a larger motor where it can still be great in the city (low end torque) and blow away the competition when you're racing.
i initially wanted a Civic SI but they were ridiculously marked up when they first came out. $25,000 is what the dealer was asking. i laughed at their faces. I got a tC, installed a turbo a year later and couldn't be happier. I blow SIs and prev gen XRS away without even trying. I average 22mpg, not too good, but not too bad either.
Who knows, i might get myself a new corolla when the wife and i have a baby (pull out the kit from the tC and toss it in the Corolla), it's a nice ride.
