USA Price to fix a mistake... OUCH!

So as I stated in the picture thread my car was hit on Friday while parked on the top floor of a parking garage... The damage wasn't too bad, just a couple scratches in the bumper behind the drivers side wheel well. I just went to the Auto Body at our local Toyota dealership and they quoted me 629.00 USD to fix it! Apparently they have to take the bumper off and sand that part of it, then repaint it. Damn, didn't know it was so bloody expensive to fix scratches!

Heres a picture of the boo-boo. It looks worse than it is, I cleaned it up a little better today. It still has the guys paint on it.

you can buff off the other guy's paint so it won't look too bad. are all the white parts the other guy's paint? or are those scratches?

I buffed it out yesterday but I don't have any pictures yet. Basically the dirty scratches are in the clear coat and the paint is chipped in the wheel well. The guy who hit me left me his business card and I called him this past weekend and touched basis.

Good to know the person was honest enough to own up to the damage.

If you're handy, you can sandpaper it and polish it (with a PC) and wax that area yourself.

That's pretty expensive but not particularly out of place for a factory repair

Hi Tideland, Just wanted your advice, I bought an 09 corolla and the dealer installed an aftermarket alarm/autostarter and charged me a whopping $900 for it
I agreed because i thought at first it is toyota's alarm as I asked and confirmed with him before installation, but he installed it and without telling me, when i received my car , it had 2 fobs, 1 for toyota keyless and the other one for the after market alarm. I took the car anyway and used it for 2 weeks until the autostart malfunctioned so i called him, he said he used a third party company and gave me the phone so i called them and asked them to remove the alarm from my car so they did. Now he doesn't want to refund me and he wants to install the same system again in my car, what do you suggest?
