Why did Toyota choose to make the clock part of the instrument panel and not with the radio panel? This is kind of annoying when I was to monitor my mileage. Strange design choice IMO.
I think it's for economic reasons. I actually think it's not that bad. Just set it to your clock since you look at that more. You only look at your mileage for what... maximum of once per day?
Yea, I also think its poor planning on Toyota's part. No matter what your preference is on the display (clock, mileage, etc), in order for you to change it, let's say- while driving, you have to maneuver your hand through the steering wheel and that's very cumbersome. Although, there is one fix that is available that I am planning on doing and that's changing out the stock stereo. I plan on getting the Pioneer AVIC-Z3. Woo Hoo!

I agree...poor "Clock Management"......waz zzz up with that...
I will admit that this clock placement drives me batty. I like to keep the instantaneous mpg on the display, so I actually bought the tackiest of tacky, a stick on clock
Agreed. The stupid clock placement is my single biggest disappointment with the new Corolla. The wife REALLY hates it too. Even my kids bitched about it during the test drive. Toyota may not think it makes much difference but I bet you'd be surprised how many sales this will end up costing them, even as silly as that sounds.
yea toyota needs to wake up and smell the roses...what kind of idiot would put the clock so only the driver can see it, and even then the driver's gotta look between the steering wheel
every person i have driven in this corolla has asked me where the clock is lol nobody cares for the 15000 compartments the car has but they all noticed the missing clock
All I can say is that I hope they made that little stalk that cycles through the options out of some sturdy stuff because I'm constantly punching it to check the temp, time, AVG, instant, etc. I don't spend much time looking at the E/T, but I did notice while cycling through this week that I've spent 55 hours behind the wheel so far.
Putting the clock in the message center was just stupid. It needs to go into the radio, as the passenger can't see it. The present radio with XM has way to large of font, but plenty of room in the LCD for the clock. And the outside temp should also be somewhere in the center dash, console.
The only other thing I found odd in our "S" model is the fact it has heated mirrors, but only ONE PRESET interval wiper speed?
I totally agree. I am so pissed off that only 1 wiper interval is available. It was lightly drizzling the other week and you can imagine the speed at which I had the intervals set to (even though it was set to the lowest) was so annoying. By the way, I have never used the heated mirrors before. How do we activate or use it?
I think variable interval wipers are an LE or XLE option. The single-speed intermittent wipers have been around a long time. My '93 Camry LE had the single-speed intermittent wipers. Seems to me like the S should have gotten variable speed intermittents too, but I'm happy to have the single-sweep option back. In my '93 Camry, it was a pull toward the driver. In my '02 Sienna you can't get a single sweep at all except for turning on and off again.
