I just bought a new Corolla LE and was offered the Platinum Extended Warranty
6 year 70,000 miles zero deductible for $900.00 from the dealer. Told them no since I figured that this vehicle will probably double that mileage before it needs some major work. However did check this forum out and found that Toyota of Greenfield has super pricing on this stuff. Just to see how their prices stack up I emailed Troy at Greenfield and he responded with 7 year Platinum 100,000 miles Zero deductible for $745.00. Normally I would not bother but since that price was so good I mailed him a check today. Just passing that along, also the dealer I bought my vehicle from is OK and has a great service department but Troy's pricing was just to good to pass up.
They tried to sell me the Platinum 7/100 for full MSRP. Told him I had lower price. He asked amt & sd he wd match. (dont think he thought price wd be so low )
I had planned to buy from Troy but my dealership made it very convenient ...just financed it in w/ 0% int

My Corolla will arrive soon and would like the 7yr 100k Platinum - please someone let me know the person's name and number I can reach for that $750 price tag. I would like to contact him asap.
I just purchased a new Corolla yesterday and found out pricing was very high from dealership compared to what I have seen in this post. Does it matter if you are in a different state for the extended warranty?
What is the easiest way to cancel this warranty that I got with my local dealership? Is it worth just calling them and seeing if they will match the price? The other problem is that they added to my overall cost which will cost me more at the interst rate of my loan.
What are all of your thoughts on extended warranties? Seems like it for the price, but I have never had an extended warranty in the past.
The profit on an extended warranty can be larger than that of the car itself. That alone should tell you whether an extended warranty is a good purchase or not.
ok guys. This is another reason not to trust car dealers. When I bought my car and was sitting down for the financing, I verbaly said, NO extended warrenty, No extras period. Well, last week in the mail I get a letter from Toyota thanking me for the purchase of the Gold warrenty in the ammount of $2,100 dollers. Ahh ha...
So, I call Toyota and they say, oh yeah, its in your loan. I tell them about the dealer and I go check my sales receipt again, nothing on the reciept about purchasing a warrenty. It shows sale price. like 15,900 or so. Then shows money I put down. SO Im thinking they pocketed the money. I call up my stealership and they say, Oh, well you signed the paperwork three times. I said, oh well, already been cancled and Toyota the lein holder is knocking 2,100 off my load ammount principle. So they say, oh sorry about the mix up. SO they lose my buisness now for life, I will not go back there. There out the 2100 so what do they gain?
You can look at extended warranties in a couple of ways:
1) Most of us will never have to see the dealer for a warranty related item, especially for those who are mechanically inclined and/or take care of their vehicles properly. Warranties do not cover wear items like belts and clutches, and in this day and age, the service life of the powertrain is well beyond 100k miles.
2) On the other hand, say you drive over a pothole and damage your rear torsion beam suspension. The part alone is several hundred dollars plus labor for the install and alignment. An extended warranty may pay for itself in this case.
If your vehicle has less than 36k miles/3 yrs. then you need to check this out.
This is the best deal I have found on an Extended Warranty.
This is only available for vehicles that qualify for new vehicle plans by Toyota, this means they must be less than 36 months since the Date of First Use (original sale date) and have less than 36,000 miles. US or Canadian.
These warranties are actual Toyota warranties, not some 3rd party warranty. The warranty is good at all Toyota dealerships. Troy also does Scion and Lexus warranties.
A 4wd Tacoma Platinum warranty lists for $1650 from the dealership. Troy can do $880.00 for the 7 yr/100k mile Platinum coverage w/ $0 deductible.
(Troy offers the same warrany on a 4x4 Tundra for $990) Heck, one transmission repair job could cost you more than that. IMO it's a good idea to get the extended warranty, especially when you can get it for half the cost that most dealerships charge for it.
Troy can give you a deal on any Toyota, Scion, or Lexus vehicle. Just e-mail him.
If you have already bought an extended warranty, but you paid too much, you can still cancel your warranty, get a refund, and buy a new one through Troy, and save some money. Plus a portion of the proceeds will go to Toyota Nation to support the site.
Here is the link to Toyota Financial's website, which lists the plan benefits and retail pricing, as it would be too extensive for me to list here.
Troy gets tons of e-mails about warranties, so when you send Troy an e-mail please copy and paste this "form" below, and fill it out. This will help speed things up and make it easier for everybody. Even if you aren't a Toyota Nation member you still need to fill out this form. Just make up a fake user title.

I bought the Platinum 7yr/100,000mile warranty from my dealer today. My dealership was selling it for $1,300.
I literally told the dealer about this "other dealership in MA who was offering the Platinum one for $880" and told them i was planning to send him a check. So they called corporate or somthing like that and were told that if I could show them online what the other dealer was offering, they could match it. I literally took them to toyotanation.com, went to this thread, and they looked at this post.
They then sold me the Platinum 7yr/100,000mile warranty for $880 on the spot.
I just shut my mouth and signed the papers, happy as a clam
