Hey guys, I actually had a question. The company I work for got bought out by HP and it looks like in the US, they have special employee pricing deals at Toyota for HP employees. http://hp.toyotapartner.com/
"Select Toyota dealer affiliates are offering Hewlett-Packard employees a very special opportunity. We call it the H-Plan. You can lease or purchase a new award winning Toyota and save hundreds even thousands"
So, I was wondering whom I should talk to at Toyota to find out if this is valid in Canada? Sales manager? Toyota corporate? The merger is going to be finalizing later in the year so I do not have access to HP's employee benefits website, but my current company has deals with GM and Nissan, and I know people who got really good prices from those vendors, so I might actually decide to wait until the merger is fully done to get the ride, if I am going to be saving a few grand by waiting a few more months (not to mention putting down a larger downpayment) Any ideas?
You talk to your HR Rep at HP. These deals are negotiated independantly between companines on a DIVISION-BY-DIVISION basis. Notice the "select Toyota Afiliates"...which likely means they're talking about exceptions like Toyota in Florida - which is independantly owned. The border causes much chaos on this since pricing, costs, and profit margins are different.
Toyota Canada and Toyota Motor Sales USA are not the same company. Just like HP in the US and Canada are differnet companies.
Last I recall, Toyota Canada has/had(??) deals with IBM Canada, Panasonic, and Yamaha. Don't recall anyone else.
Makes sense, I suppose. Sorry for the stupid question I just would hate it if I went out and got the car and then found out in a few months I could have gotten a better deal if I had waited for the merger to finalize!
I work for a big company (the company that is the "nation" here), and we have deals with a lot of other companies for EPPs (Apple, Dell, HP, etc.), and any available EPPs are posted there with most granting access online.
To be honest guys, I think most of these inter-Company "deals" are pretty weak. At best, it saves you and the dealer from having to negotiate (which can be either a good or bad thing).
When I think about the deals I've seen between Toyota and Yamaha, IBM, Panasonic, and the likes...I can usually do better on my own with a little research and basic negotiation skills. There are exceptions when either company is looking to clear out older models and put time-limited deals on...but that's pretty rare and usually not when I want to buy.
Wow this extends out to friends so basically anyone can get in on it. I called. VERY WEAK DEAL. I negotioated a deal $1800 better in 10 minutes. Ouch. Great for the weak at heart woh can;t stand negotiating at a dealership though

No I haven't, since we are not yet officially part of HP and hence I don't have access to the HP intranet. The merger deal is supposed to "close" sometime in "second half 2008" and therein lies my dilemma. I was looking into buying the car August/September time frame, and I do not know if the merger will be closed by then. If, however, I knew for certain that there WAS a good discount in the EPP program, I could defer my purchase a few months--I am in the "want a new car, not necessarily NEED a new car" situation. *Sigh* I'll see if my negotiating skills are up to the task instead--I am afraid they won't be doing much negotiating up here in Canada because it looks like they are selling Corollas like hotcakes--no incentive for them to cut the price when there are many people willing to pay MSRP for them.

Hi I work for that company. You must work at the XXSystems....Welcome!
I just recently purchased a Corolla and I noticed the HP Toyota H deal or something like that on our intranet and so I looked into it to find that it is only available in the states.
So.. no deal for us...
Ok, here are some facts about "H Plan" from a salesman at the dealership that originated H Plan and now administers it at almost 100 dealers in 48 states and Canada.
H Plan pricing is based on the dealer's invoice -- the invoice, NOT the window sticker. Now the cynical will say, "Which invoice?" The answer is simple: the one that the dealer must show you or be charged with commercial fraud. Clear enough? It is the real invoice.
Next the dealer adds a small charge -- or none at all. Price fixing is illegal, so H Plan pricing can vary from dealer to dealer. And no dealer can guarantee that you will never find a lower price, but the H Plan does guarantee a very low price with NO demeaning and frustrating haggling. Specific examples? I charge invoice OR invoice + 1% for Yaris, Camry, Corolla, Tacoma, Tundra, Prius, etc.

The last 2 Toyotas I bought, my 07 Matrix & 09 Corolla S I bought for less than invoice as a dealer still makes money with the holdback money.
