"...We also invited a fourth dark-horse contender to the party, but the Mitsubishi Lancer that showed up featured a fancy stereo, a sunroof and a $3,000-higher price tag. It was disqualified before the test started for being too far out of the price range."
They surely didn't highlight the high amount of vandalism on Mazda3's due to the early design error of their locks. Thieves don't care if they can break in or not. If they see a Mazda3, they will try.
Given my last two cars where Mazda3 and Mazdaspeed3 they are wonderfull fun cars
and the Honda has great resale value
I think the Toyota is kinda the mid line... right down the middle, but if they are comparing the Mazda 2.3 that is a little unfair... hopefully they used the 2.0
i saw the video this morning and i think they used the 2.0L engine for the mazda3 because i recognize the front grill...different than the 2.3L. i guess it was a fair match...all japanese cars, all economy cars, similar sized engines but the corolla has the lowest hp...i don't know...but it seems a lot of reviews i've read online, not many like the new corolla lol
I guess the Corolla isn't really revolutionary like that last one where it grew quite a bit. For a car that was scrapped and remade due to the Civic, its really quite bland. Though, I think eventually the Civic will get boring. The styling is only eye catching but not long lasting, it really isn't a pretty car.
^ Did you hear about the consumer review of the Camry, Malibu, and Accord, where they get a bunch of average joes to check out the cars, drive it, and review it.
The one with the midsize received tons of flak because it was lame.
This one is a little better, though still not what I would call a well balanced review because some real world factors issues are not put in.
Summary: A bunch of people got to test 3 cars, the 2009 Corolla, the 2008 Honda Civic and the 2008 Mazda 3. The Mazda was the most fun, the Civic was the most practical. Nobody chose the Corolla. End of summary.
There are only 2 things I cared to remember in detail. The first is a guy commenting on the Civic:
"..the Civic is a great car overall, but the dashboard, I just can't get used to it."
The other is the initial disqualification of the Mitsubishi Lancer. That really cracked me up (scroll up to see the first reply to this thread).
I just hate the civic... inside and out. The mazda3 looks very dated now.
I am with you about the civic. It looks like a civic with down-syndrome to me. The front end is hideous. They should have stuck with the '03/04 styling. That was the prime of Civics. And the Mazda3 isn't much better. It was nice when it first came out half a decade ago. It needs a major overhaul. That was the real deal breaker for me buying my Corolla. I didn't want to buy an outdated Mazda3 model. They were taking too long for their Next Gen to come out. So i went the XRS route and was very pleased.
