Variable Intermittent Retrofit

Anybody have any ideas about doing this mod to the wipers.

Just drove my 09 S last night through some pretty good rain and while I appreciate the intermittent wipers I miss the variable feature I had on my 05 Matrix.

Seems like if I got this feature on a "cheaper" car three years ago it would be on this car.

I know on my 99 Maxima the computer was all there, just had to add the stalk to get the feature.

According to the US Toyota website.........

Variable intermittent windshield wipers with mist cycle - Not Available

ALL trim levels.

Didn't think to look for this whan I bought my 09 S, just assumed it would be there. This blows!

Correction: XLE Only............

What a horrible deal... Crazy Toyota US & NUMMI...

I'm glad we have it up here in Canada, it is useful come wintertime and all the snow.

Only model in the US ia the XLE. Sucks! I am debating the purchase of a 09 XRS too. Seems odd...

just to double check...variable intermitten wipers is that thing where you can adjust the time or speed you want the wipers to wipe right?

You're right, the site was not changing my "S" model when going from model to model.

But.....if the XLE has this feature I'm betting it won't be a big deal to add to the other models. Unless the computer/wiring/relays/fuse locations just don't exist on all cars.

Be interesting to get a Toyota tech to take a look at this idea.

Correct.

Better described as varying the "delay time" between wipes, VERY usefull in light rain, mist or foggy conditions.

The only difference between the 2 setups is the switch in the column, so that's the only part you'd need. 84652-02610 is the part number for NUMMI/TMMC made cars. 84652-12A20 is the part number for TMC made cars.

NUMMI = California (VIN starts with 1)
TMMC = Canada (VIN starts with 2)
TMC = Japan (VIN starts with J)
