Finally ordered my Blue Streak Metallic XRS. Haven't added any options or anything, although I might actually go with BSMs later on. Dealer didn't tell me when we are getting it, hopefully we'll know more tomorrow. Anyone want to buy a 99 Corolla?
I can't wait to get my hands on the car, hope it is not the 6 weeks to 3 months people have been mentioning on this forum.
Congrats. on your purchase Did you pay a good price for it? I saw another blue streak XRS when I drove home this afternoon...It's still very rare to see blue streak 'rolla in Toronto...

Thank you! I got an internet quote from a Quebec dealer (living in Ottawa has gotta be good for something after all ) and showed it to the Ontario Dealer who was scandalized at the price but then matched it [partially by removing the extra insurance VIN etching package ($299) ON dealers seem to foist on all motorists in ON (my 99 Corolla had that too--supposedly pays you another $5K if your car is stolen, in addition to the insurance payout)] I got it for about $700 above invoice, which I think is pretty decent. I haven't seen a Blue Corolla in Ottawa yet myself--seen red, black and silver so far so maybe I'll have the first one woo hoo!!!
I felt a bit guilty about not getting it from the QC dealer who had the low quote first, but from what I read on the QC MTO website, I'd have to pay the Quebec Sales Tax when I bought the car and fill a form to ask for the tax to be refunded, and of course ON was going to charge me the PST when I registered, so...

You are a smart buyer Well now you just have to wait and I know how dreadful it can be...
*sigh* I now feel like a heel, because the Quebec dealer told me they could have done the ON PST and registration--which is contrary to what both the Quebec and Ontario Motor Vehicles Departments were saying (website for QC/phone call for ON). I suppose since they were close to the interprovincial border they have some kind of a deal?
Anyone in the Ottawa area who wants to buy a Corolla, I'd suggest you contact Villa Toyota in Hull (Gatineau), QC--they have really good prices and they even provide quotes over the internet (something I have not seen at the websites of any Ontario dealers so far)

Where did you see it? DVP/Gardnier? If so, that was me. Complete with a fresh coat of 3M hood tape over the hood and bumper. That stuff so rocks!

And congrats JeuneTurc! Welcome to Club Bleu!
Thanx for the welcome!!! Do you mean the invisible bra when you say the 3M tape? I really want to get that too, I dislike the plastic or leather-like ones (usually black) but in Canada, it is a good idea to have some kind of protection. Did you install it yourself or got it professionally installed?
starting to see more Corollas now. Saw a Blue Streak Mica S on Dundas and a blue Streak Mica LE with NY plates on the QEW.
Just saw my first blue one in Ottawa, either an S or an XRS (was too far away to tell) so I am not going to be the first one... Might be the first manual XRS in blue, though
My Corolla was built on July 2nd! (so it is technically a Wednesday car, but since July 1st was a holiday, it is more like a Monday car I suppose?) It is right now at the TMMC warehouse and should be in Ottawa sometime next week, woo hoo!!!

I got it professionally installed - although next time I might take a stab at it myself.
The guy who did it for me was the one who put the same tape on the hood of my old 05XRS - and it did well for small stones and sand-blasting....so this time I put it on both the hood AND bumper. Forgot to ask about the mirrors but really they're not a big issue and I'll just touch those up. That should prevent some of the dings and pitting that our bumpers are so fond of getting. But it was damn expensive and I'm pretty sure that there's good margin in this stuff for the labour. When I thought about it, it's still cheaper than repainting the bumper in 4 years - but still..
I just had it put on this past Wednesday so I'm letting the tape dry and "shrink" to the body. There were a few bubbles but I was told this is normal since the installation process is similar to installing tint (using water). I'll wait until the weekend to do a closer inspection - but so far so good.
My only complaint is that it's tape and thus not as flexible around odd corners. There were areas of the bumper that just can't be done. Personally I think that Toyota should be installing this stuff at the factory.
Oh, and the type of tape I used is from Avery. It's a competitor to 3M and others. But most people know what you mean when you say 3M tape.
Unfortunately I can't make the meet this Sat. Wish I could - would have been a good chance to show her off with this mod.
