Underneath the front of the car there is a black hook, and on the base part of the hook is a lift point. With that said, if you can't find the lift point for your car, I would recommend NOT changing the oil yourself, and just go to the dealer.

Oil / Filter for 12.95 is a good deal, but you should call them to make sure they can do it for your car at that price. The oil is supposed to be 5w20, and can run a bit more expensive than 5w30.

That sounds a bit more reasonable, but you should still call and find out. A few people here have already gone to the dealer with coupons, and they end up paying more because the 09 Corolla uses 5w20 oil.

Just use ramps - I built a set myself with 2x10's, and they are very easy to drive up vs. the regular ramps you buy at stores.

Changing the oil and filter is not too hard. You will need a 65 MM cap type filter wrench. SAVE ALL RECIEPTS to prove you changed it! Also the replacement is the element only type filter so be gentle on the housing. Made of plastic or something like that. Also don't torque it down hard. It just needs to be seated firmly.

Hope this helps.

Toyota Dealerships here in Canada charge $34.95 for Oil and Luburcation Service.

Quite worth it compared to a job done at Canadian Tire for $29.95.

Just go to your dealer and comfirm the price.

I do a lot of stuff on my own cars, things like rebuilding power steering pumps, and what have you, but I still don't change my own oil. $35 is too cheap for me to even bother doing it myself. (I pay just slightly less because I work at a dealership, but I'd still do it even if I didn't).

haha.. Jeff doesn't do his own oil?? OMG!! LOL! me neither man, I just go to Toyota and get it done there, although it pisses me off that they don't carry 10w30 so I'm stuck with 5w30 oil... well, they do carry it in bottles but they want to charge you more for it.

I rather the dealer do the oil changes and they get rid of the filter and old oil the "proper" way, that way I don't have to bother trying to figure out how to get rid of the old oil without polluting the environment... no, throwing it down the drain is not an option.

have to respond

Ok, just have to say a few things. First you can take the oil filters and used oil to the auto parts store to get rid of it. Or a local garage. I have a friend that has a garage so I just change it there, has a lift, very cool.

Second. $35.00 dollers at the dealer for an oil change. You r getting whatever oil brand they use, unless you want to pay extra for it. Second, how do you know what they did to your car.

Actually, I enjoy changing the oil. I know what brand of oil I put in. How much I put in. I know I have a new oil filter in the car. And I know the drain plug and filter housing is secure.

For a total of $24.00 I changed my oil, and used 100% synthetic oil in the car. I like my math better. And my oil

Yeah, whatever floats your boat. I work at the dealership so they get the parts for the oil change from me, so I know what oil is going in and I know what filter is going on.

In any case, do what feels best, but I'd rather pay them the $15 labour.

you dont have to jack the car up that far, i just jack it up enough so i can get under it a little better, maybe 5-6 inches, just enough to take the weight off the suspension, the tires never come off the ground
